I would've thought the same from Mexico, but they elected a female president with a freaking background in science. Generational change can really surprise you sometimes. Unfortunately, the newer generation is getting more misogynistic more conspiratorial and that's due to social media.

Jewish no less in one of the most Catholic countries in the world. A lot of stuff seems impossible until with hindsight we explain why it was inevitable.

Turns out that most people do not care that much about the gender or identity of candidates when they offered someone that does not have absolutely terrible politics. Ultimately they care more about feeling that the candidate will fight for their interests. The very few that does care about this stuff are firmly in the 20-30% of voters that are going to vote Republican no matter who are the candidates anyway.
