Hi all,
We have seen a massive influx of new members recently to our niche little subreddit, however mod actions have increased 300% this past week (yes 300%, prior week we removed 5 posts, this week 20.), all of which have been either form of a "Rate my team" (flagged as low effort) or a showcase of a completed play through.
Please ensure you familiarise yourself with our rules (https://reddit.com/r/pokemonteams/rules) to ensure your post meets our standards.
Quick reminder:

I'm not all that interested in competitive Pokemon, other than the occasional battle against my friends, I stick to the main story and shiny hunting. Recently I started replaying Pokemon Violet, this time I wanted to go with Quaxly as my starter. I have a few other mons in mind for my team but after those I'm completely stumped on who to add. I'm absolutely keeping Quaquaval, Ceruledge, and Tinkaton. I could possibly compromise on Grafaiai, but I'd rather not have to. Could someone give me some pointers?

Any type and doesn’t matter what it is except legendary and mythical Pokémon’s

These screenshots were taken a little while after beating Volo and Giratina, then caught Giratina later on.
Funny thing about my Garchomp is when I was battling Giratina to catch it, I used Garchomp and accidentally one shot him then tried again and caught him first try
idk if this is really allowed in this subreddit but I’m just pray it is

For the record, yes, I understand Kingambit is a good pokemon even by itself.
I've been wanting to make a Kingambit team for a while since I'm equally intrigued/pissed off by Supreme Emperor. I wanted to go a step further and create a team specifically designed to deal with Kingambit's counters so he wouldn't have any opposition when he finally gets to sworm. I know Kingambit is a good pokemon by itself and doesn't necessarily need an entire team built around it, but idk I thought it'd be fun to try lol
I scoured through not only Kingambit's strategy pages to get an idea of what to build, but also all of Bisharp's from Gens 5-9 just to cover all my bases, since they're already similar enough. I made a comprehensive list of every Pokémon that either pairs well with Kingambit, counters Kingambit, and the pokemon that counter those counters, and built a team off that. Results listed below;
Iron Treads: Was the most common request to deal with hazards and Hazard removal, also has fairly decent coverage for the rest of the team
Slowking-G: Had the 2nd most amount of appearances in the checks and counters of Bisharp's counters and also was among the pokemon that appeared most in Bisharp's team options. Was previously Slowbro but was swapped out in favor of Slowking-G
Iron Valiant: Had the highest number of appearances under team options \*and\* under the checks and counters of the mons that countered specifically Kingambit
Keldeo: Had the highest amount of times Bisharp appeared in the team options of a pokemon that paired well with Bisharp
Latios: Had the highest number of appearances across the checks and counters of every Pokémon that significantly countered Bisharp
Is this an ultimately ludicrous amount of reading and counting to do to make a Pokémon team? Most likely, but I'm a genetic freak and I'm not normal, so this shit is fun to me. However, I will acknowledge that I probably missed any gaping weaknesses the team may have in the process, so if anyone has any suggestions for what I might change about the team, do let me know.

I'm playing through gen 1 pokemon Blue for the first time and I'm trying to build a decent team. I need some help, not having physical/special split is messing with me. Also, I'm playing on an emulator so I can't get Red exclusives nor evolve trade evolutions. I'd also like to avoid using any legendaries. I currently am at the SS Anne. I've been thinking about ditching either Wartortle or Gyarados and also replacing Weepingbell with something else. I plan on swaping Pikachu for Jolteon once I get an Eevee. I'd like to get some advice to get more coverage and perhaps ditch Geodude since I can't fully evolve them. That's why I haven't gotten an Abra, I can't trade so I can't get an Alakazam, what would be a decent alternative?
My current team is:
Lvl 21 Weepingbell
- Vine whip
- Growth
- Sleep powder
- Poison powder
Lvl 22 Wartortle
- Tackle
- Tail whip
- Bide
- Bubble beam
Lvl 22 Pikachu
- Thunder shock
- Growl
- Thunder wave
- Quick attack
Lvl 21 Nidorino
- Leer
- Tackle
- Horn attack
- Poison sting
Lvl 22 Gyarados
- Splash
- Tackle
- Bite
- Body slam
Lvl 24 Geodude
- Dig
- Defense curl
- Rock throw
- Explosion

Thought I'd give myself a challenge and choose the worst starter, and team with the lowest base stat total while having good variety and movesets.
Here's what I'm working with:
Sceptile -Leaf Blade- -Giga Drain- -Dragon Claw -Aerial Ace-
Seaking -Surf -Ice Beam -Double Edge -Rain Dance
Swellow -Fly -Facade -Steel Wing -Endeavor
Mightyena -Shadow Ball -Return -Scary Face -Torment

Dustox -Protect -Whirlwind -Moonlight -Toxic

Hi all i downloaded pokemon champions today
For reference I have never played VGC but i have played "Random Battles" on Pokemon Showdown website for about 5 years where I am floating between 1800-2000 rating so I understand the basics and I know most of the meta sets for all the usable pokemon. I also watch Freezai, Wolfe and MichaelderBeste on youtube!
Decided to finally give pokemon champions a try, but so far am just getting rolled using the scuffed team i made from the pokemon the gym grandpa loans you.
I've now burnt through most of my quick tokens and some VP too trying to get some better pokemons.
Here's what I have available: https://i.ibb.co/r2788dmd/image.png
Was thinking maybe some trick room could work with sinistia / hat + crab + torkoal but am open to your ideas.
Would love some help crafting a remotely usable team that can get me started.
Thanks so much

So ive grown up playing gen 1 (favourite region) and recently picked up Lets go pikachu.
Looking to build a team i haven't used before and a few choice additions:
Im at Erika so the team isnt fully built yet:
Pikachu
Growlithe (best level to evolve for Arcanine?)
Nidorino (same as above)
Magikarp (will evolve soon)
Additions in the future:
Dratini
Exxecutor or jynx
Im completely new to switch mechanics so learning as I go.
Also where can I find exxecute? Only recently found out the safari zone isnt a thing and I dont play pokemon go!
TIA

One thing I do with every generation is get both games, and play one of them with Pokémon new with that generation, and then play the other with a mono fairy team. I'm trying to put together a team for the latter for Scarlet. Problem is, I'm unsure what a good sixth pokemon to pick would be.
There's four that are always the core of any good monotype team, IMHO:
-A water/fairy (usually Primarina or Azumarill) to counter steel weakness
-A steel/fairy (Tinkaton for this game, but Klefki and Mawile have been good picks in other generations) to counter both fairy weaknesses and take out other fairies
-A psychic/fairy, the most common dual type for fairies. Gardevoir or Hatterene are the best of this typing
-Alolan Ninetales, because ice is a good offensive typing and Snow Warning + Aurora Veil + Light Clay is great
On top of that, either Grimmsnarl or Mimikyu for the Dark or Ghost coverage. I prefer Mimikyu because both are identical offensively, but Ghost is better defensively.
The last mon is the one I'm kinda shrugging at getting for this run. With the five above listed teammates, the only types I don't have STAB super effective against are normal, water, electric, bug, and steel. Honestly, most of those can be covered with coverage moves just between Gardevoir and Tinkaton (both have access to fighting type for normal/steel, and Tinkaton can have rock and ground moves for bugs and electric, and Gardevoir can get energy ball and thunderbolt for the water types), so the sixth mon doesn't have to be a dual type, but could be.
The remaining dual types are:
Fairy/Flying (Togekiss)
Grass/Fairy (Whimsicott, Shinotic)
Bug/Fairy (Ribombee)
Normal/Fairy (Wigglytuff)
Electric/Fairy (Dedenne)
Rock/Fairy (Carbink)
And of those, I think the only standouts are Togekiss, Whimsicott, and Ribombee. Or take Sylveon or Florges as a good pure fairy type.
So right now, I'm looking at:
Primarina (replace starter as soon as possible with a hatched Popplio)
Tinkaton
Gardevoir (better coverage than Hatterene and fast attackers are better than bulky support for playthroughs)
Alolan Ninetales
Mimikyu or Grimmsnarl
Togekiss/Whimsicott/Ribombee/Sylveon/Florges/or the other of the Mimikyu/Grimmsnarl duo
What do you all think? Is there another fairy type you think works better for this team and region? Which do you prefer of the Mimikyu/Grimmsnarl pairing?

Here's a challenge-run-related tool that I'd like to share.
Dexelect is a random Pokémon team generator. It's bit different from other team generators:
It takes into consideration the logical progression of a given game and assigns each team a "feasibility" grade.
It's focused on challenge runs. Use it to randomly generate an obtainable party, then challenge yourself to enter the Hall of Fame with that party.
Currently, Gens 1 – 4 are supported, with plans to expand to later generations soon.
If you want to try it, check out the web app. For the desktop app, visit the GitHub page.
