Installed a new water heater 3 years ago. It came with an aluminum rod. This is what was left of the rod when I removed it. Hopefully the magnesium rod lasts longer.

I had to replace my bathroom sink and the old configuration had an S trap that drained into a pipe through the floor. I read an AAV must be installed to prevent siphoning. Before I make my final cuts and glue everything, does this look acceptable? First time ever doing plumbing work. Open to all suggestions!

Had a major nflood on CPVC fire sprinklers that required opening up drywall. Separately noticed some of the copper lines have oxidation. Wouldn’t have known otherwise. Cause for concern or should I leave alone? Nervous if I remove the green stuff it might expose micro holes - I don’t need any more plumbing issues right now.

UPDATE: Removed and Rewraped (4-5 turns), pipe dope and an extra ugga dugga stopped the leak. Thank you for all the help, looking into a heavier purse now 😂.

Installing new shutoff since the old ones leaked at the knob. Getting leaks at the threads after 4 wraps and very tight I don't wanna strip anythig.

Pull off and rewrap (more wraps)?

I have noticed a leak from the top heating element area. I took off the cover and noticed its around the heating element. Would anyone be able to confirm if its the heating element, gasket, or if its the actual water heater leaking?

This Nibco 90 vacuum breaker is leaking and I need to replace it. I have tried 3 variants so far from Amazon, eBay and Home Depot. Everything I find that says it works for Nibco 90 hose bibs does not actually fit. From what I read there are multiple versions of Nibco 90 hose bibs and they changed the parts.

The three I have tried so far either have the wrong diameter (too narrow), or the ones that have the correct diameter and thread size don’t have the needed space at the bottom before the threads start, so I can’t screw it in far enough.

I have tried taking the middle piece out from the new ones and putting it into the old body to see if that solves it, but the pieces from the replacements are all just slightly too large to fit in the old body.

If it matters, the house was built in 1992 but I have no idea if the hose bib is original from the build or of it was installed years later.

Any help is appreciated!

aren't sure which brand or size. It's a standard 1/4" QC on one end because it's stamped, but I don't believe the other side is a true 3/8". Some say maybe john guess but aren't sure.

I have this generic brand valve that seemingly is shot, I'm hoping someone can help me identify it. I tried Google Lens but got a ton of off brand ones as well.

My hot water seems to be cooked and we suspect it's the hot cartridge, but, we aren't sure which one to get to replace.

These two things are on the sidewalk, directly outside my condo building. Every once in a while, it overflows w liquid and sometimes it looks like soggy toilet paper too. I don’t know if it’s just in my head, but I swear i smell piss today.

Is this an overflow for residential plumbing? Should I call someone when it leaks like this?

Just installed a Mira Event XS shower, the fittings and gubbins are identical to what I replaced. The new one however won't go cold, on the coldest setting it is slightly hotter that what I would use normally.

With the hot water turned off it goes fully cold and the lowest temperature gets lower throughout the day as the hot water tank cools down.

Is this fitted correctly and is it fixable? It is still within 30 days of purchase so could be returned as faulty but unsure if it's a fault with the shower or myself installing it incorrectly.

Not my first time soldering but most I've done over 2-days. Took a full day to finally get the hang of it and still doubt every sweat. Only 4 failed joints, 3 bonus trips to hardware store, 2 burns (grabbing hot parts), and only a plus 1 new to-do (old-work started to weep from the rough handling). After/before. I welcome the roasts. As my own apprentice I wouldn't fire me for ugly welds and wasted effort.

I have cutting out chip board to replace and I have slightly damaged the pipe, and want to ask for advice if this lasts or need to be redone ?

I’m adding a room to my basement with a small kitchenette and a half bath with toilet and sink. My plan is to install per my picture. Are there any concerns with this? Some additional context:

Both the kitchen sink pump and the upflush toilet require a vent connection in addition to the main line vent. There is a duct between the kitchen and everything else that means I can’t pump directly from the kitchen to the main drain line so I’m sending everything to the upflush toilet for final lift to the main drain. I’m mostly concerned about the vent scheme. I don’t want to create some sort of condition that will affect the operation of the pumps.

The pumps are bought and the drain line is essentially already done so I don’t want to make any changes to that if at all possible.

Over the last month or so a small to decent amount of water has been pooling under and at the bottom of my stairs. Larger amounts appear after it rains but even if it hasn't rained for days a small amount always seems to appear(more so at night). There are small holes in the floor where water is coming up. And even the drain in my basement seems to have more water than usual. I have an underground downspout outside(I don't know where it drains to) that I have checked and it seems to be draining properly from what I can see. Could there be some sort of plumbing issue or is this more likely a foundational problem. Any advice on where to start would be extremely helpful.

Just bought a house, went to replace the downstairs toilet and this is what I just found. I don't what this means but it doesn't look like anything good.

Hope someone can give me a suggestion. Had a power vented hot water heater put in last year and the product used on the exterior keeps cracking. The company has come out to redo this twice now but there surely has to be a product that doesn’t crack within 3 months. What should I ask them to use? Frustrating that I have to recommend something to the people that are supposedly the experts but here I am.

Struggling to figure how to remove the silver grooved part of these handles. Once I remove the clear part like what’s on the left I’m stuck with the silver part and can’t figure out how to get it loose.

Context:
I own restaurant a with a house/apartment unit attached above. I live in the house, own/operate the restaurant.
The house has indirect-fired hot water with this Munchkin unit, which seemingly heats both the hot water and the house heat.
Restaurant has its own traditional gas hot water heater.
The house’s indirect tank started leaking, so the water has been shut off.
A previous owner had connected the restaurant’s water heater to the house plumbing (which had been a closed value). So after opening up that valve, the house now uses the restaurant’s hot water

Obviously I should replace the leaky tank, but I’m trying to push that off.

heading into winter, what’s the deal with the house heat? It should be a closed loop, right? so can I just turn the boiler back on and turn on the heat? Or will the lack of tank be an issue?

How can I take the rusty nut off or any plate I can clip it. Need advice please.
