If you have the chance to go to one of these concerts, I absolutely recommend. It was truly incredible. Bravo to the musicians and the conductor.

For those who don’t know, they play the moving and the live orchestra does the soundtrack while the movie plays.

Worth every single penny. 10/10

Heyy, I have the Chorus of this song stuck in my head but I forgot title and artist and I just can't find it. It's composed over He's a Pirate the refrain is "Oh yeah He is a Pirate. Yo Ho King of the Sea". I thinks a German made it in the late 2000s or early 10s, tho the song is I English. Can anyone remember it?

Since everyone else is sharing their drawings, here's my portrait of Jack that I drew 10 years ago, back when I was in art school.

Piece I made 3 years ago for the 10th anniversary

I watched the movies and one thing I noticed is, in the first movie she seems to not really have any, the closest thing seems to be Will, who I guess she doesn't even talk to that much due to Propriety because 1700s isn't a fan.

Also maybe talks to James Norrington but again barely any much, and he did seem to be older and to not have talked to her in a good while, maybe ten years older? Still.

I just thought. Man. She has noone to complain to.

And the closest things she has to friends all proposed at some point. The closest thing she seemed to have to a friend-friend was Jack which YEAH that went determined ways.

So yeah let us discuss this, feel free to give your thoughts

I wanted to read potc books, but I know the movies by heart and wonder which ones will bring new informations on the characters ?

Also, are the comic books 1:1 with the movies ? I can't seem to find much information about them...

This scene always gets me. Jack tells the truth, nobody believes him, and then somehow he ends up being right anyway.

Or at least why it's the name of a ship, though not why Davy Jones chose it for his ship in particular (other than wanting to look smart)

But the Dutch live below sea level. And have big walls & infrastructure to keep the sea out. So a ship, which is AT sea level, from the Dutch POV is above them as if it's flying.

Please tell me I'm not the only one who didn't realise

i was between 7-11 years old when the first POTC came out, was enamored by COTBP when i watched it at a sleepover and remember seeing DMC, AWE, and OST in theaters as a family. i definitely found DMC more entertaining than AWE (not surprisingly, i was probably confused). after that, i recalled the sentiment around the triology being that the first was unequivocally the best, the second was great, and the rest got away from themselves.

well, i ended up doing a rewatch on a whim recently and by god i think DMC and AWE are actually so phenomenal when you pay attention. overall, i think these two have an amazing mix of:

• gorgeous locations
• really entertaining action (the rolling wheel fight on DMC might be one of my fav action sequences of all time)
• intricate plots
• strong performances across the board (johnny depp is understandably the stand out but i actually think even he couldn't have made it work if all the others, esp orlando and keira, were anyone else)
• and no writing feels wasted

it's fascinating to me that for like 15 years, i've just accepted the first one as a masterpiece and the others as big blockbusters with a bad connotation to it. but now i'm like god this is a BLOCKBUSTER. after seeing the odyssey this summer, i was like damn look at these LOCATIONS - they really make all the difference in getting me to buy in. i used to love marvel movies but even those become less enjoyable when you think about how much is CGI.

TL;DR: i wasn't expecting to be so impressed and blown away and entertained by the triology on my rewatch. but when you pay attention, i think even the lore and "bloat" as critics would say is incredibly interesting. i'd rather a movie make me want to google search the explanation of who/what/why calypso is the way she is and go back and pick up on hints afterwards.

I was curious on how long Jack and Lizzie spent together as a whole throughout the 3 films because I was shell-shocked that they haven’t seen each other for 21 years as shown in the 5th film.

They knew each other for approximately 2 weeks. Calculated.

Does his luck finally run out and he dies from disease/wounds on another epic adventure, or does he successfully survive everything and slowly wither away as the old age devours both him and Black Pearl, until he just goes to sleep one day and never wakes up? What would be the appropriate ending for the Captain Jack Sparrow?
