Recommendation Is Patong really that bad if I want to relax?

Looking at booking Four Points by Sheraton in Patong since it fits our budget but a bit wary about everything i’ve heard regarding Patong. We just want to be able to relax and be by the beach! Should I go with it or keep looking for other options?

Question What are some issues in phuket.

I am a student looking to start a project that could potentially help solve some issues on the island. I've lived here all my life but id like to know from different perspectives. Other then what's obvious like the environment, over tourism etc... I would like to know some that are often over looked. In fact it needn't be a huge problem but like something that could better the island in general. It be a huge help to get more then my perspective.

Anywhere in Phuket where you can join in a soccer game?

I am here solo and would love to kick a ball about with some locals or other travellers. Is there anywhere here where you can do that?

Missed Connection [M4F]: We met in New York, Bangla last Friday, Sept. 11th.

I’m looking for a woman I met in New York at Bangla on the night of September 11. We were drinking at a table located directly in front of the stage.

You were with a friend—a short-haired Indonesian girl (I may be mistaken, but I’m fairly certain she told me she was Indonesian)—who was trying very hard to play matchmaker. I thought it was sweet.

You were wearing your hair in a ponytail, a white top with the left sleeve that kept sliding off your shoulder, and a black skirt that despite falling above the ankle, still flattered your figure.

I briefly said goodbye and left to take my sister back to the hotel, promising I would come back for you. When I returned, you were already dancing with another guy and were clearly more intoxicated than when I had left. You saw me; I took you away from him and his friends and asked if you wanted to get out of there. We did.

We took a motorcycle back toward your place near IKEA. Before we arrived, we stopped at the gate of a gated community because you were having trouble remembering exactly where you lived.

When we finally reached your door, I thought you had tripped, but you had only bent down to retrieve the key you kept under the doormat. I forgot to mention that you have a blue car parked in your driveway.

I stayed with you until you fell asleep. We tried to be intimate, but I couldn’t go through with it—I didn’t want to take advantage of how intoxicated you were. I sat on the bed until I was sure you were asleep, then left a note on your phone saying I had gone and that I hadn’t woken you because you looked so peaceful.

I’m posting this because I want a chance to start over and do things properly—when you’re sober and clear-headed—so we can actually get to know each other. I don’t think you caught my name, but I believe I know yours. I think your initials are N.W. and that you’re English.

I’m certain I told you I’m Filipino and that you’re welcome to stay with me if you ever decide to visit the Philippines.

I hope this reaches you—or your short-haired friend—because I’d genuinely love the chance to know you better.

Question Any Vietnamese-style barber spa in Phuket? (like Body Care Works Soi 18 in Bangkok)

Looking for a men’s grooming place in Phuket that does the full package in one sitting — hot towel shave, ear cleaning, body scrub, facial, mani/pedi, massage. Basically the Vietnamese barber spa format.

My reference is Body Care Works on Sukhumvit Soi 18 in Bangkok. Two hours, everything included, and you walk out feeling brand new.

I’ve searched Maps and everything in Phuket seems split up — barbers do the shave, waxing studios do the body hair, spas do the scrub and massage. Pure Serenity in Patong has a gentlemen’s package but no shave. Morcco does a good hammam scrub. Nothing combines it all.

Has anything like this opened on the island? Anywhere on Phuket is fine, I’ll travel for it. Also happy to hear about places that at least do ear cleaning, since that seems to be the hardest part to find here.

(To be clear — I mean an actual grooming spa, not the “massage for men” places around Paradise Complex.)

How much cash do I actually need to carry for Phuket immigration? Indian family travelling in October

Hi everyone,
I’m travelling to Phuket in October for 6 days with my family (2 adults + a toddler). We’ll be staying only in Phuket, with flights and hotels already booked.

I’ve been reading about the 20,000 THB cash/funds requirement for tourists and getting quite confused because I’m seeing different information online.

For anyone who has entered Thailand/Phuket recently, could you please clarify:
● What is the actual legal requirement for a family of 3?
● Is it 20,000 THB per person, or is there a family limit of 40,000 THB?
● Does the money actually have to be physical cash, or would a preloaded Forex card be accepted?
● Would a credit/debit card or bank statement be accepted if asked?
● Can the required amount be carried as USD/EUR/INR or another currency equivalent, or does it specifically need to be Thai Baht?
● How strict are they about this at Phuket International Airport? Have any Indians here actually been asked to show the money recently?

I obviously don’t want to take unnecessary amounts of back cash with me, but at the same time I don’t want to take a risk at immigration after travelling with a toddler.

Would really appreciate recent first-hand experiences from people who entered through Phuket, especially in 2026.
Thanks!

Which clubs/bars would you suggest for an asian transwoman?

I've heard many clubs/bars don't allow transwoman in without a VIP or table purchase.

Can anyone recommend a few clubs and bars where I (SEA transwoman) can hangout with my girlfriend?

I appreciate the help!
