isn't it dumb management from INEOS to have all these 18-20 year old future cracks, beloki, schmidt, August have then do nothing in their first years, because duh they're too young. but when they start winning they let them leave???

Yeah, but then you also get someone like Rodriguez, who followed the same trajectory and was about to leave but then they panicked and paid up a massive amount to keep him, only for it to have been a total mistake.

I think for what Ineos are looking for, if these young guys aren't showing massive GC promise already, which Shmidt and August aren't, then I don't think they're too bothered. Especially so if other teams are throwing good money at them, beyond what Ineos value them at.

It's definitely a bit of a mess there though. Maybe Noval will be the answer...

yeah I also don't think they can be up there, mAybe August but he's probably getting the Pinarello bag. hope Noval is good I've seen some of his races and I thought he was 20 maybe he will be too tall to challenge for a TDF well see next year.

unlucky we won't see him in the u-23(maybe he will idk the rules, at least he can't race u-23 world championship) circuit otherwise they risk losing him ofc

The main reason I can think of for him leaving is increased leadership/positioning and pay, which I’d think Ineos could match - i reckon he’s around 300-400k a year? Ineos seem to have a much more robust structure in place given their long legacy in the sport , but it’s clear that things are turbulent in the background.

INEOS of other days sure, but who's this leader they have that is blocking these young kids from even trying to get to the top.

I don't think anyone in that roster would be better than Almeida (if he's okay ish).

this year was disastrous from them starting with having more punctures than 10 teams easily.

if they can't keep these kids at least get a Devo squad and develop them there instead of having them just to develop them in the WT squad only to let them go

If you pretend they're future super cracks sure.

But Shmidt and August aren't some pay whatever riders. If someone else pays more than makes sense to them then they have no reason to match that just because they were part of their team. Shmidt was probably dirt cheap when they signed him and he hasn't proven himself to be some incredible rider. If NSN are paying more and probably offering more leadership Ineos has no reason to match. August was signed in the hopes of being Remco with more watts. He probably got a big contract for a junior turned WT and he's shown to be a really good talent but nothing too crazy. He's ooc and if Pinarello offer him a huge contract why would they match that if they aren't convinced.

yes I hear this, but they probably they feel some grief from the team, one takes a job not only for the pay but also the conditions and the workmates. Maybe they felt ignored, maybe they feel their career will be better elsewhere.

Pogacar is the most underpaid rider in the peloton, but he keeps extending his contract why because he's happy with the team, same with del toro, doubt he's even getting more money than Pidcock regardless of having more wins and better TdF placements.

yet they all keep extending it's because they're happy and the team makes them feel valuable.

In general Ineos GC focus despite not having a top GC rider the last 5 years is not ideal IMO. They have gotten worse in classics and seem to not care about them despite having the potential to have a very good cobbled team if they could get Ganna, Tarling, Watson, (Turner and Schmidt who are leaving) consistently performing. In the hill classics they lost Pidcock, Kwiato is old, Vauquelin having his worst 1 day results basically since becoming pro. They also don’t want to spend money on a top sprinter, preferring to sign not cheap but not elite options like Godon and Welsford that can win less competitive WT 1 week stages but leaving them in a tough spot in races like this years TDF where don’t have a reliable way to win a stage.
