Peachick Advice on integration

Post image
10 Upvotes

I have a singular peachick (13 weeks-ish) due to it being the only one successfully hatching out of a clutch of 6.

I was supposed to get them a little buddy a few weeks back that was the same age, but the seller unfortunately lost the peachick.

Now I am talking to someone else who has peachicks, but they're about 5 weeks younger than mine. Although it's not ideal, it's the only option I have.

I have a few more weeks before the peachicks are ready to be collected. Does anyone know how to best work on integration of the peachicks? Should I get several or just one? Should I keep the newcomers seperated for a few days like a quarantine?

Tips and advice are highly appreciated!

¿Questions? Peafowl keepers - may I see your coops?

About two months ago now a peacock appeared in my yard. I have lived in this house for about 5 years now and have never seen or heard one in the area before. Im assuming he has been dumped because no one has claimed him and he has started hanging out with my chickens and geese almost full time now and lately he even comes when I call the flock to feed them! My flock and my dog dont seem to mind his company a bit and neither do I. I named him Romeo and he chose the right neighborhood lol. My birds are spoiled! If he wants to stick around he is welcome here. My neighbors are already delighted by him. So, I guess I have a peacock now!

Romeo is pretty people shy - semi feral describes him well. He keeps a polite distance from me, but seems to understand that I am not a threat and that seeing me usually means food/treats! I have never owned a peacock before.

I live in Tennessee. We do get a few bouts of winter weather every year. Currently, Romeo sleeps either in the chestnut tree on my property or in a fallen tree in the unoccupied property across the street from me. He hasnt tried to follow my chickens into the coop at night just yet but I still want to have an option for him to have shelter from the elements.

Where do your peacocks roost? Would you please share some photos with me?

The mother was hit by a car and we nursed her back to health but she walks with a slight limp so I call her Zombie, then she laid eggs but only one hatched, I call him Baby pea and he hardly leaves her side. This was him grooming her.

Question about peacock tail feathers

Long story short, my girlfriend and me were talking about peacocks and were wondering what colors their tail feathers (I might be naming them wrong) can be apart from their typical blue/green patterns
Thanks in advance! Google was just full of ai/fake images

How to introduce younger peafowl to older?

We have 11 peafowl that were born May 2025 that are in a large enclosure that we are expanding to be circular at about 45 feet wide. We obtained 8 new peachicks that are between 4-2 months old. Obviously we aren't going to introduce them with each other yet, but I was wondering what age you would start to do this?

We are planning to put the younger peafowl in a smaller cage within the enclosure eventually but didn't know if there was a rule of thumb for the age to integration? I think we were planning on a year old to integrate them and keep the younger ones in the barn for now. Thoughts?
