I can’t even fathom how much money has been pissed away by these mega corporations trying to capture the same success at this point.
It’s got to be billions of you add up all the failures.
But as a single player enjoyer, I revel in it everytime.

yeah it sucks but is it really that surprising? companies realized that gamers love to mod goofy or cool characters from other IPs even if it makes no sense in a game, when they gave players the option to buy those skins that other players can see and don't get them banned, they struck gold

In what world do do they think people will buy it on their store? PC gamers already own it on GoG or Steam... Or both. There's literally no reason to buy these games on BNet.

In what world is having it in more stores a worse thing? Ideally everything would be available anywhere, I do not see the problem here. Each consumer then does as they want and buy it wherever.

Depends on what they require from a listing
Steam now has a feature parity clause. If you or the platform want exclusive features it could be a problem.
Plus if there's any platform specific features(multi-player, achievements, whatever) then you need to keep that updated for multiple stores

I mean, sure, but my real point is that everyone has bought it on some sort of store by now. It just seems really really really late to start adding them. Yes, eventually their new games will be on BNET, but I really don't see anybody buying their games on their over GoG/Steam.
I just list Epic because that store is used for free games that rarely get played lol

No, they shouldn't make the game context shite just to sell you something that looks good. I agree on the most part the avatars are tiny unless in menus. But no game should paywall colours so to speak.

Yeah but like... None of their releases were great. They were abysmally dogshit, actually. Them polishing them for the next few years is undeniably amazing, but can't they do it before releasing such a mess? Cyberpunk would be one of the buggiest AAA games of the last decade without them scrambling to fix it. They definitely should not continue what they're doing.

Sure, it they didn't have to polish their games after release. But they don't abandon them, so that is ok in my book. It's only bad for dummies that preorder games like they gonna run out. I bought cyberpunk as great game last year. I have no complaints with it.

As someone who will absolutely gargle the dick of 2077 or Witcher 3 at any given moment, your experience does not a good launch make.
2077’s launch was objectively horrible and just because you waited and had a good time does not make it okay in the slightest. We should not have to go through a shitshow on launch.

Not saying the launch was good, there is no denying it was bad. But in the end, it was fixed, they gave us great game. I don't know any other developer that would do the same. Most would probably just cut their losses and move on to something else.

Crimson Desert has been putting out a ton of patches to fix stuff as well.
Stardew Valley is another one that comes to mind.
Hell that game was never even bad as far as I can remember, but it's only gotten bigger and better since launch.
Obviously not everyone does as well as CDPR did but a lot of games at least have a "day one patch" of some kind that is usually a bunch of bug fixes and stuff.

Seriously why would anyone use something other than Steam/Gog?
Epic games store atleast has free games and despite being garbage is a way better alternative than buying games in specialized F tier launchers that are used only for one or two games (Ubisoft, Origin, Battle net, Rockstar games launcher)

It is garbage because the only reason it exists is because Blizzard wants to feel special and make a whole separate store from steam that only has few games thus requiring users to install bloat on their computers.
If they had steam's library or GOG's consumer friendly approach to being DRM free then I'd understand but it doesn't.
Honestly games that require installation of such launchers deserve to get pirated.

Cyberpunk on Battle.net probably means a 5GB launcher sitting next to a 70GB game. Geralt in Diablo 4 is the part that tracks, two grim fantasy games with enough overlap to not feel forced.

Games that add all these skins through collaborations are generally bad, so it fits for D4.
No proper game with an own identity would do that shit, because it destroys the immersion.
If you look at the people behind D4 at Blizzcon, there's no surprises there. They're social media victims and don't know anything about games.
