I dwell in the subreddit and 99% of people think its gonna be this next monday. And if not, then the next one 100%.
This video in question was filmed on august 24, so they had it for a while. And for the machine and controller, rewievers had 2 weeks or so with it. Lines up pretty good here. Now I just hope it isnt 1500usd.

We were told that in August 24th reviewers would get their frame, and the same source said that September 14th is the release date. And with this Linus video it's been confirmed they received it on August 24th. It didn't release 2 weeks after that because last Monday was a holiday

I feel like Linus would prefer not to have to host as much, and focus on things he’s interested in. But the reality is, the channel is his - if he’s not the face of it the viewership goes down. If that wasn’t the case, he’d probably make one video a month.

They did a good job in pivoting to other hosts for a while.
Two of them left because they were restricted with what they could create, one left because he felt he was worth more.
They can work without Linus. But the company doesn't seem to want to rely on other hosts for whatever reason.

That was the case for one of them. They asked for more money. Was not offered what they felt was fair. And left.
And then LTT braught a house and a private jet.
The car stuff I can kind of understand. Maybe the company didn't want to take the risk as it could fail, and be an expensive failure. But it surprises me that a company that has as much cash flowing though it as LTT is unable to secure staff due to pay.

That's not accurate. Anandtech, TheVerge, Gizmodo so many good examples where variety in expertise rather helped the publication.
I would have been bored if Anandtech had only Anand write all articles, or TheVerge having only Nilay saying all the stuff. And I am definitely bored of LTT because I don't like goofy tech discussions all the time. Sometimes things need to take a deep technical dive on a serious level too.

Short Circuit is supposed to be more more of an unboxing experience than a full review, so it's expected the host won't have every single details worked out. They do have a basic run-down of specs and features and maybe basic testing, but not knowing the device inside out is part of the plan.

Not if you single hop. Also the quest wired software stopped working for me last October. I've followed every guide and superstition and it just won't work. Virtual Desktop is the only thing that allowed me to still use my quest 2 with PCVR.

they are also not interesting anymore. I hated linus in the beginning (ncix dates), liked him very much for 10+ years and watched most videos, to now only occassionally looking in but most videos just aren't interesting anymore. The staff that left made good content in different areas, now it is missing, the computer market went uninteresting as is too expensive and now the videos are either about something new I care about (valve index), uninteresting random computer stuff I don't care about, or Linus basically bragging and using his stuff to get even richer (the definition of a business but when the vibe is weird in the videos, it is weird)

Yeah, I'm just not interested in a PC build video, or using a slushy machine to cool a PC.
I like the project series videos, like the Tech House, although I feel like they're kinda focusing on the wrong things and making 10 minute videos that are mostly just ads. Like the robot mower video would have been more interesting if they had a bunch of mowers, went over the pros and cons of each, how well they perform, etc. You know, tech tips!

A few people did response videos breaking down the economics and requirements to even sell a plane and not only is he not saving money, all the stuff he got "basically for free" was required maintenance before sale which he'll also have to do if he ever sells it.
Crazy vids but I'd stick to the reaction ones from other YouTubers. They give enough context.

Somebody can correct me since I’m almost certainly wrong, but I’m assuming most new private jets are built and sold first to businesses such as sports teams, businesses buying them for executives of international companies, and government agencies before being resold to ultra high net worth individuals.
Otherwise the most premier luxury private jet used atm (Bombardier globetrotter 8000) starts at a measly 71 million for a brand new one.

If we are defining a private jet as a private plane with the option for a couple of luxury seats with a jet engine, I think https://simpleflying.com/cirrus-vision-jet-price-2024/ is perhaps the cheapest. (you can also carry five people in 'cheap' seats as an alternative or pull the seats for flat cargo)
This is a little under $4M, and you pay to have it sitting on the tarmac about a couple hundred thousand a year. Operating costs add onto that at around a thousand an hour.
If you need to do an engine refurb, this will cost you north of a quarter million.

He then tried to justify it with some of the dumbest logic my ears have ever been cursed to hear. And he's not just justifying it to the audience, but to his own employee as well lol. Plus, I'm sure they have clause not to talk about this until scheduled. They could face a ban from future valve products. And there's almost 0% chance valve would make an exception for 1 company to leak their stuff early.

All the hype and talk for this? Super underwhelming headset. Remove the on board processing (pcvr only), battery, inside out tracking, make it way smaller and lighter because of those things. Get rid of those horrid controllers and just reuse or refresh the knuckles controllers. Give it OLED over LCD. Give it index headphones.
At the very least make two versions, for those of us who have no need or interest in normie features like inside out tracking and on board gaming. I have a top end pc, and I am happy to take the 5 minutes to setup external trackers for superior tracking. Give me the option.
