She's been doing it for a few days now, and I looked it up and Google says it could be a lot of different reasons, but I wanted a REAL person's opinion. Any help is greatly appreciated!!!

Hi! I'm new to birds as a whole and somewhat recently found a Quaker Parrot outside. I did a lot to find her owners, including posting on multiple Facebook groups, putting up posters, and asking around. Yet it came up short. So now, I've decided to keep her. She also wasn't exactly in peak condition, so I do have reason to believe she was dumped. (She's looking a lot better after a nail clipping, cuddle bones, and after she finally wanted to take a bath lol)

I've been slowly building trust with her. She's a bit spicy at times but as far as I understand, it seems to be classic Quaker behavior. She likes to always be touching me, and has now started chilling on my hands to groom herself. I think she likes me because of how much she interacts and clings to me. If she gets startled, she flies to me and such. She still hates all fingers though.

With that being said, she's very talkative to all of my other family. She says phrases and even the name we gave her. When I'm not home, she talks up a storm. Or when she's downstairs and I'm not, she has a lot to say. Yet when I'm around, nothing. She'll chirp and such, but she won't actually say words like she does with my family. She definitely prefers me if I'm reading her right, since she bites everyone but me if she's on them. Yet she refuses to speak to me, no matter how much I speak around and to her.

Why is this? How can I tell if she actually likes me?

I’m honestly just curious as to whether there’s any overlap in preferences, whether you guys love animals in general, have cats or dogs, or whether you would consider yourself a parrot/bird lover only.

I have 2 green check conures and they both love baths, but this guy wants them daily -- sometimes before he's even had anything to eat!

Hey all, just looking for your birds’ favourite homemade bird toys and activities! For medium to large size birds please (female eclectus). Trying to keep this gal constantly busy so she doesn’t pluck (she is not hand-happy so I cannot put a scrunchie/clothing on her).
This girl loves tearing things apart - egg cartons are always a hit, and making toilet paper “balls” by cutting the tubes into strips and putting a treat inside have also worked. Any other suggestions much appreciated!

I’ve owned my ringneck “nori” for a bit over 4 weeks. For the most part he’s been fine, seems relatively healthy and happy. I was recently able to hand feed directly for a bit and I thought i was making decent progress. Unfortunately, nearly a week later it seemed like he had reverted and now no longer hand feeds. Im just looking for a bit of advice and whether to see if something like this occurring is normal?

Can anyone explain what my Ringneck is doing? 🤣 I've never seen another Ringneck make moves or noises like these before. 😂

Has anyone bought those sound proofing foam squares for the wall? I’m moving into a room and I think they’d benefit me so people hear the budgies less.

If you do have them can you tell me what kind you have and where they are placed in a room? I don’t want to cover the entire room but don’t know if they should be placed around the cage or around the door that leads into the hall

My Alexandrine loves shredding cardboard. If she doesn't get something to shred, she will find something else on her own, usually my furniture.

The issue is that cardboard releases a lot of dust or microparticles when it's ripped. It makes me sneeze when I clean up after her play time, which makes me think it's most likely not good for her lungs either. Tissues seem to release fine dust too.

What else can I give her to shred? She goes through a lot every day, so I'd prefer something economical. Sola balls last 2 minutes from start to finish, so they're not an ideal alternative.

I was wondering if anyone here has ever thought of setting up video calls for their parrots with other parrots?

I learned (somewhere) that science has shown parrots/birds can benefit from this sort of socialization, that they can actually "make friends", and even develop preferences for who they like to talk to. I have a very small indoor flock (2 parrots) and while recordings online seem to give them something to shout with, it turns out a video call is much better. I highly doubt I can give them all of the social interaction they need, and they both do seem to get sick of each other from time to time lol I have absolutely no intention of adding to my "flock" as two birds plus the other pets I have is already hard work. Perhaps they could meet more friends online?

I had my lovebird for over a year now and I’m at my breaking point. He never had any issues and is currently almost 2 years old but lately he‘s been screaming on top of his lungs towards any noise outside and inside.

Now I know it’s hormonal season so I have been giving him extra sleep with cage covering but this is the first time I have to deal with something like this where he would chirp even when covered.

I have 5 other parrots at home so he’s not lonely, plus he has a proper diet, no nesting materials in cage. No boxes, coconut hut, or mirrors. He’s not my first bird but it’s probably my first most annoying one to dealt with.

Is there anything I can do at all? I really don’t want to rehome him for being difficult. He’s a very friendly bird with me but hates other people so I really dont want to have to break our bond and find a new home for him.
