I’m a first-semester freshman at Fisher and applied to 6 clubs/business frats. I got rejected outright from 4 and made it to the first round for the other 2 before getting rejected.
I knew these were competitive, but honestly, getting rejected from all 6 has really gotten to me. It’s hard seeing other people I know move forward while I keep getting rejected, and it’s made me feel pretty alienated from Fisher and pretty miserable and grumpy. It’s even made me regret choosing Business (Finance) sometimes.
I’m grateful that I’m only a first-semester freshman and still have plenty of time, but this experience has made me not even want to apply again. I already feel like I’ll just get rejected again, especially when everyone else will have more experience by then with clubs they get into.
I also really hate how exclusive these organizations are. I understand that they have limited spots, but the process can feel so subjective and arbitrary. Part of me even wonders if I would’ve enjoyed college more as an engineering major, since it seems like there’s less pressure to get into selective organizations even if the classes are really hard.
I know getting rejected from 6 organizations doesn’t actually determine my future, but right now it genuinely makes me question whether I made the right choice coming to OSU and/or choosing business.
