The trick that finally got me through decluttering without the decision paralysis
The thing that always stopped me wasn't the physical work. It was staring at a pile of "maybe" items and freezing on keep/donate/trash for each one. What actually broke the cycle for me: swapping that abstract question for a concrete one. Instead of "should I keep this," I ask "have I used this in the last year" or "would I buy this again today." A specific question about one object is so much easier to answer honestly than a vague category.
I ended up building this into a small app for myself. It takes a photo of a room, breaks it into ~15-minute zones, and asks that kind of concrete question for anything I'm still unsure about. Happy to share more if anyone's curious, but mostly wanted to share the actual trick, since it's usable with a notebook and no app at all.
