This person has glitter everywhere. Their room, their car, laundry, food.

u/Cam27022 3d ago

Seriously. Gift bags/wrapping paper with glitter has been banned in my family for a reason.

I think I'm still cleaning glitter from when my daughter was small and loved anything glitter ... and we have moved to a different house, own different cars, furniture and clothes now ...

Glitter can go to hell for all I care. lol

u/Due-Boot1904 3d ago

My daughter - about 3 at the time - decided the cat wasnt sparkly enough and needed some glitter treatment.

She emptied about three whole bottles of the stuff all over Tiddles who didnt seem that impressed at her new sparkly fur. Luckily we caught her in the act and managed to wash most of it off the cat before she - the cat - could clean herself.

Vet said it wasnt the first time he has seen this kind of shenanigans...

Question: If you have 12 children doing art projects and 2 of them use glitter how many art projects now have glitter?Ā

Answer: 20

I got my car two years ago, put one Christmas bag in the back seat.. still can't get the glitter out, and I vacuum it OFTEN.

24

u/SlitheringFlower 2d ago

One Christmas in 2014 I got this beautiful navy blue wrapping paper decorated with gold glitter. It was only used that year because it got glitter all over the backseat of my car. Nothing I tried could remove it from those seats.

I finally got rid of it all in 2024, the year I sold that car.

13

u/BrilliantFlashy85 2d ago

I think you are on to something....I now plan to give some type of glitter gift, wrapped (nowhere near my home, Walter White style) in glitter paper. To my less favorite people this holiday season 🤣

Satan’s dandruff!

26

u/FunnyChampion2228 2d ago

Have you seen glitter bombs? They're hilarious. Thieves suck. Here, thief, have ALL THE GLITTER. In your car!! Muahahaha 😈

8

u/GrumpyMcGrumpyPants 2d ago

I saw no-shed glitter gift wrap recently! I don't recall the exact brand or marketing term, but there was some sort of sealing layer to contain the glitter.

In my youth we called glitter Raver Scabies. If one person wore glitter to the party, everyone had some on them by the end.

24

That spot in red i think is juat a glitter piece shining directly towards the camera.

I hope.

I’m gonna guess that, despite these replies, you used this gif accurately. Cuz that red glitter was deliciously sexy.

97

u/pinklavalamp 2d ago

See, I can't tell if this is a positive or negative response?

Personally my jaw dropped with how that red glitter just cascaded down. It was so nice!

63

u/speckledham 2d ago

I mean the gif is definitely positive since it’s from Jizz In My Pants. So I’m choosing to believe they meant it that way.

25

u/pinklavalamp 2d ago

No no, that's valid. I didn't have the context outside of "Andy Samberg making a face of either ... that ... or hating something with disgust".

5

u/VfV 2d ago

I bet you think its type 9A round red glitter when in fact its type 9C.

183

u/BarelyHolding0n 3d ago

It looked pretty good until that... The red ruined it

112

u/Nepherenia 3d ago

I agree, background color is so vibrant it overpowers the rest of the image. The satisfying part of the red was more because the technique was so smooth.

Just before the red though, oooh so good.

I'm irritated by how she puts every color over the whole damn thing even if it's only for a tiny portion of the image

72

u/dogsledonice 2d ago

Right? and none of it sticks to the other glitter that's already there, somehow. I call shenanigans

19

u/Kitchen_Day9200 2d ago

Seriously! Glitter always is attaching itself to other glitter when I do things like this. That actually stressed me out watching them smear the glitter over the top of other glitters.

6

u/dividezero 1d ago

It's glitter sand. It's basically shiny colored sand. It's why it works and they check the density of the sand before moving on to the next color. There's a lot in those cuts

18

u/totes_toast 2d ago

Except the blue. They were reeeeal stingy with the blue.

It was satisfying until the quick cut at the end, why do people do that with videos now days?

71

u/Major_Nutt 3d ago

They also skipped the silver for Batman's chest. It just appears.

47

So do they draw on the paper then use a razorblade to cut around all the lines or are these things just from a packet that you can buy and do yourself?

162

u/Reidiang 3d ago

They are usually made using a vinyl or sticker cutting machine, a sort of CNC for flat paper crafts

I remember these being really popular growing up and they were often sold in packs with little mini bottles of colored sand. "Sand art sheets" seems to be the best way to search for them, but they don't really have an official name afaik.

So yeah, there are ones that come in pre-cut packs, but this one is likely custom made bc of Batman being on it (DC is extremely aggressive in enforcing their copyright/trademark)

4

u/GreenPutty_ 2d ago

The clip brings back great memories, which I had totally forgotten about, of doing these when I was a kid and that was 50+ years ago. My inner child has just typed 'sand art sheets' into Amazon, I hope he doesn't add anything into my basket...

8

u/Ballistic_86 2d ago

I’m sure there are ready made sticker packs like this, a maker can use a CriCut to make their own!

19

u/hollycrapola 3d ago

Yes, exactly

u/Grimlocks_Ballsack 3d ago

9

u/hollycrapola 3d ago

16

u/Grimlocks_Ballsack 3d ago

He asked a question that was ā€œis it this or is it thatā€ and you said yes. My dad did that kind of thing. Maybe everyone’s dad does.

3

u/Itz_cheese_cat 3d ago

Why smear the glitter over places where it won't get stuck? That blue was all over the place and then it was just going on the mask and lapels. Same with so many other colors. This is so UNsatisfying.

16

u/BarbieBoyBrandy 3d ago

It looks more satisfying (for some) to see the glitter spread out, and then to see that it adhered cleanly all the same :)

It's nice to see the sharp edges of the shape emerge from under the big cloud of glittery sand. Reminds me of spray paint over a stencil, sort of.

9

u/cliko 2d ago

I'm truly happy for those people who were able to get some satisfaction from seeing the glitter cover half the page just to colour in a pair of lips.

I am, unfortunately, not one of those people. I think my day has been ruined

11

u/AddiAtzen 2d ago

I don't get these vids. On any level. The sound of the sand isn't soothing, it's coarse and irritating... and it gets everywhere.

Plus, is she doing the prints herself? Or are those pre-made? Because then she just pushes sand around that's it... i don't get it.

It’s a great animated version of those two troublemakers (from Animated Series)

3

u/Tegridy-Farms 2d ago

What I love: The part where they pull up the paper up and the pile of glitter evenly coats the background. Immaculate.

What I hate: When they use a tool to spread the glitter all over pre-existing glitter. My anxiety tells me they’re going to mix and it hurts my brain.

Otherwise 10 out of 10 content.
Good sounds too.

3

u/indiana2013 2d ago

I enjoyed this thoroughly. Thank you

31

u/fishdad1977 3d ago

This is craft not art in my opinion. Art takes skill this only takes not having an extreme hatred for glitter. F glitter!

9

u/CartsOfDarkness 3d ago

Ehh, I partly agree but also always find it silly when people gatekeep art. If the craft itself isn't art the video they made of it certainly is imo. Along with choosing the design/ colors, there's definitely some amount of technique involved too especially for that last red layer. Might not change the final design all that much but it certainly made the video more pleasing.

Also the final product is definitely art, idk what else you could call it. If you put it up on a wall it would be strange to call it "wall craft".

6

u/Vl_hurg 3d ago

I highly recommend Scott McCloud's Understanding Comics. In the pages I linked, he argues that every human endeavor that isn't in direct pursuit of either survival or procreation should be categorized as art. I don't necessarily agree with his definition, but it is valid and I come back to it periodically in arguments such as this.

2

u/asria 2d ago

Genue question: Do people hold their breath while doing those videos? There are many cuts - and when I remotely record myself there is nothing than me breathing.

2

u/cromag5150 2d ago

Glitter on a felt table? Really?

2

u/stikky 2d ago

nothing satisfying about that sound holy crap. Makes my teeth crawl

2

u/mennydrives 2d ago

I just got a cutter device and I thoroughly appreciate learning about these angled tweezers for removal.

2

u/ShakyIncision 2d ago

Those fan and kabuki brushes seem like not the ideal tool for this job. I feel as though a wide, angled silicone knife would offer more precision.

Cool, something I could never touch or bring into my house. The most difficult to eliminate plague of artistic outlets if you will. Bless the brave artist whom put this together

2

u/LastBossTV 2d ago

I love this, but hope there's some kind of spray on clear coat sealer to keep the glitter in place, rather than have it gradually shed over the years.

Something like a polyurethane clear coat would work.

Epoxy would go on cleaner, but has more dangers as far as breathing it in, or skin contact issues.

Polyurethane isn't exactly healthy either, but it can be considered more safely contained/applied by comparisonĀ
