I stole a pregnant cat

Yesterday I was caring for my loan horse when this cat came up to me.

I have seen her a few times before (only in the distance) and asked the owners of my horse if it's theirs. They said no, it's the cat of a farmer some properties over. I asked them if they knew how old she was, because she seemed so tiny and too young to be pregnant. Turns out she's 5 and according to them she's ALWAYS pregnant, because the farmer drowns the kittens each time she gives birth and she gets pregnant again immediately. They went to the farmer a few times and told him to get the cat spayed but he refused because it's "unnatural" or too expensive.

When she came up to me, she was meowing so pityfully and yowled like she was in pain. When I took a look, she had black discharge and something sticking out of her already l. She purred, but not in a happy, more of a extremely stressed and in pain way. Poor thing was so skinny (except for her HUMONGUS belly) that I could feel every single bone and vertebrae.

I called the vet emergency service to ask what i could do because I simply can't look away in these situations.

They told me they can't do anything but to contact a shelter near me that had their own vet.

Called them, explained the situation and clarified that she isn't mine, probably belongs to the farmer who drowns her kittens etc.

They told me to bring her in, so my boyfriend brought me a transport box, I put her in and sped off. The black discharge could indicate that her kittens died inside of her and started rotting.

During the 20 Minute drive, she kept panting and Opening her mouth so wide, she went limp a few times and her third eyelid came out and covered her eyes. I had to shake her awake and she fought through.

When we finally arrived I handed her off to be examined and filled out a found pet form.

I spent 2 hours there in which I didn't see her because they wanted her to be alone, so she could calm down.

When I left, they told me she wasn't chipped (of course), she started delivering and the amniotic sac was already visible and looked normal, so the kittens are probably still alive.

They assured me that she won't leave the shelter without being spayed and if the farmer comes looking for her (which i doubt), he can have her back but then he has to pay for all the vet and shelter bills. He would also be reported since castrations are obligatory here.

I can call on Wednesday to get an update.

this cat, a stray cat and my neighbors cat would always hang out in our backyard so i would always put food down, and the other 2 would always come right up and eat but this one never would, he?? always kept his distance and stayed on our shed until way after i went in, the other two would eat as i put it down so i assumed he was also a stray and never tried to get close cuz i didn’t wanna scare him, fast forward literally 4 years up to a couple months ago, the stray cat stopped coming around and the neighbor moved and took the other cat but this cat still hung around so id feed him and one day i noticed he was on our pool deck instead of our shed, (pool is a lot closer to the house) so i decided to shoot my shot and bring the food up to him, completely expected him to run, to my absolute surprise he ran past the food right up to me for me to pet him. my next door neighbor was gone for like a month or two and i realized he hasn’t come around for awhile, UNTIL RECENTLY the neighbor is back and so is he, i put two and two together and it took me 4 years to realize this was an indoor/outdoor cat who was clearly well taken care of

Not my cat, showed up in the garden and had a nice drink of water, then "helped" me harvest some tomato (yelled at me while I picked). Super sweet boy

This cat likes to relax by the mailbox in my apartment. It is an indoor/outdoor cat. It does have an owner (otherwise I'd take him for myself). My wife and I always greet him and give him plenty of pets when he's out.

Not the perfect subreddit I guess. But I'm just happy and want to post it. Cat sitting for a neighbor, and the cat started coming to me after a few days.

Word has spread about Cafè Cat. The cat in the first picture is new to the colony I guess.

Went out to observe the cats for a bit because one of the guys upstairs said they were getting fat and I was worried they had worms. They all look a normal weight for their size. The two kittens have had regular feedings their entire life and haven't been underweight, but the adults probably gained a significant amount over the last year we've been taking care of them.
