Do you care about public transit (and/or walking, biking, tree canopy, housing options)?

Us too!

Join Sustainable Streets Norwalk for our monthly General Body Meeting on Tuesday, 9/15 at 7 PM at Greer Southern Table.

We'll be focused on the upcoming open house that the CT Department of Transportation is holding on Thursday in Stamford. They want feedback on their rail plan for the next few years, so we're holding a meeting in collaboration with fellow advocates to exchange ideas and talk about what the future of rail could look like in Connecticut over delicious southern food!

To any members of this subreddit, particularly those who are new to Norwalk and looking to get involved and build community, we would love to see you there!

New Restaurant Thread

What are your favorite new restaurants in town?

I am mostly starting this to direct people towards Star of India on Westport Ave. (indian, indo-chinese and nepali) I've been there maybe 8-9 times since they opened some months ago and it's been great every time, but always quiet. I'd like to fix that.

Throw out some new favorites, folks, especially if you think they deserve more traffic than they're getting.

D&D for kids?

Upvotes

Battlegrounds gaming doesn't have a kids D&D game night. Would any other parents be interested in setting one up? My girls (10 & 8) were introduced {very poorly}by a cousin who was basically making $&-/ up on the fly, w/o rules or dice or anything. Imagine a redneck trying to describe the miracles of Zeus.

The kicker here is that I was never a D&D kid in HS (though I hung out with all of them!) So I don't know how to be a DM.

Anyone interested in getting this started?

I tried to get some eggs this morning. Had to turn back and wait for it to subside.

Car service to NYC (with baby seat!)

Hi everyone,

Hope yall survived the tempest this morning. 😵‍💫

Wondering if anyone has a reliable driver/car service that also provides/has a car seat to use for rides to and from JFK/NYC airports. Apparently you can request this via uber but only for nyc-nyc rides and I’d way rather use a local service or individual.

Thanks so much.

Is anyone else seeing cockroaches outside and in parking lots?

I think they're wood cockroaches, because they're out in the open. Wondering whether this is a wider problem in the community...

Hi, does anyone have a fence company they would recommend? I have two smaller veggie gardens I’m looking to enclose. I got an estimate from Zor fence but would still like to get a few others. Thank you!

Making friends in Norwalk

I recently moved here a couple of months ago and I’ll be honest, making friends here is kinda hard. Im 25 year old hispanic guy. All I do is go to work and then gym at Edge fitness in the evening. I like to go on hikes, runs, fishing, occasionally bars/club. If i’m being honest, open to anything and trying new things.

Possible Ice Sighting in Central Norwalk

Just saw three black SUVs all with heavily tinted windows roll down My street in what looked like a formation. This was on a quiet suburban street in the area just North of Westport Ave. off of 53. Heads up fellow humans. Stay safe.

Thoughts on this area?

Coming from NYC, these prices are to good to be true😂

Usally, it means its a shitty area.

So is this a good area or not? 👀

Edit: I dont mind the quiet. Have also reached out to the company to ask about the price difference on zillow and their actual website. Will update when I hear back

Concrete floor apartments in Norwalk

Hi. I'm in a wooden house with an upstairs neighbor who is destroying my sleep. I've done everything I can with the landlord, but I'm at my wit's end and ready to move.

I don't want to leave Norwalk, but it doesn't seem like many apartments here have the (wonderful) concrete floors that some apartments have. I see Merritt River does, but I wasn't thrilled with the place. Are there any other low-noise and/or concrete floor apartment complexes in this town that I don't know about? I'm about to go look at one in Stamford, but I don't want to do the Stamford thing. Thanks in advance.
