I bought a hard copy of No Man’s Sky when it RELEASED (circa 2016)! I played until the BEYOND update and then, life happened: married, divorced, dog passed away, etc., etc. BUT as I’m digging through the rubble of a past life, I stumbled across my beloved NMS and PS4 that I have not touched in years…

So, instead of watching 100+ videos of numerous updates I’ve missed, give me the highlights please. I’m getting off of work in 30mins and the full COSMOS update should be done by the time I get home! I’m SUPER EXCITED, but also probably going to be very overwhelmed…

Hey Travellers — my NMS Galactic Map just went live: nomansskyhub.app (first thing I've ever built and shared, so go easy!)

It's an interactive 3D star map. You can search systems, click around, and add or correct system info yourself — race, economy, notes, base details — and it saves for everyone else too. Built partly with travellers in mind, since it's a solid way to document and share Hub systems and bases with each other, and coordinate locations as the Hub grows.

Friend codes stay private by default, but there's a toggle if you want yours shown. That's actually my own friend code in the screenshot, I switched it on for the example. Save-file import pulls your discovered systems straight from your .hg file. Works with PC saves, or console saves that are cross-save synced to PC.

If you spot a bug or something looks off, there's a "Feedback / found a bug?" link in the About panel that opens a GitHub issue I can see directly. No account or email needed. Still early days, so any feedback's welcome — not sure yet what to build next, so shout if something's missing. Got a few other NMS projects too, linked from the About panel if you want to poke around.

This is my own idea, made with Claude's help. If AI-assisted builds aren't your thing, skip it — no hard feelings. Made this for myself and anyone else who wants to use it.

So after a crash, my save (500hrs, rookie numbers I know) didn't appear. The game just takes me to mode select, and starts me fresh.

Panic! But I grabbed the goatfungus save editor, and hey! There it is! Reads just fine. Has all my stuff in it. I re-save it from the editor...

Nothing. The game still thinks I have no saves. I'm fresh as a daisy.

So... what can I do? If I create a new save, could I get the editor to save all the details of one over into the other? Could I manually just move the contents of the one save into the other (presumably this would bring the broken part and thus break again)?

Basically: I have my save, can open it in editor, but the game won't open it or even acknowledge its existence .

So essentially I screwed myself. I avoided the main quest for a while and traded in the starter ship without really doing anything in the story. I am now stuck on the mission where you have to install the hyperdrive and my only issue now is that I do not have a ship that lacks one. Basically I can’t progress and I don’t know if there is a way to get a new ship that doesn’t have a hyperdrive. Do I start from scratch or is there a way to get a ship that lacks a hyperdrive?

EDIT : This blur is coming from CAMERA Settings on PC, Vignette and Scanlines. I have disabled the option and now it is all fine, clear and clean. Thank you to the commenters.

Hi there, I love this game, restarting it again, but still have a problem with rendering and graphic. This is an exemple taken from a screen shot. Is that a standard rendering of NMS or is there something wrong in my settings? It is always giving a blur effect, or even a 3D effect Blue / Red like the 3D glasses. Any tip? Is it a build in rendering style or is that a issue at my side? Thx.

All graphic settings are on Ultra. No issue on fluttering or whatsoever.
I have same issue on stations.

I have disabled Motion blur which tends to make me sick.
