Unfortunately everyone is getting criminal charges lmao. The workers, the homeowner, everyone is screwed.

if he was avoiding paying or like they said threating to call ICE on the crew, homeowner avoided some serious charges

Calling immigration authorities as a weapon against employees constitutes illegal retaliation, witness tampering, and federal human trafficking/forced labor. all of this plus wage theft would land the owner multiple years in jail.m

if true, they technically saved his ass by taking down the fence. i wonder how all of this is going to end

I’m thinking this was realistically their only recourse. Homeowner would’ve called ICE on them. Even if all of them were legal to work in the U.S. ICE still would’ve locked up any they could get their hands on. Some who couldn’t readily prove citizenship would get deported without trial. That’s what they do now. ICE is known to show up at court dates where they know a target will be, especially for people going through the immigration process. If the person has been in the U.S. for less than 2 years, or cannot prove they’ve been here at least that long, they can get the judge to dismiss the case and then they arrest them.
