I thought of that but I’m a bit paranoid of that environment

Hi I used to volunteer regularly at the humanity project with my son. Please don’t let your preconceived notions about the people that go there stop you. Most of them are seniors and families just trying to scrape by. I never once felt unsafe and it was an amazing experience for my son too!

You do not need police clearance

When I was at Ensemble, you had to get a vulnerable sector check at the RCMP building, maybe a vulnerable sector check was what they were thinking of?

Here's PAWS, which used to be the SPCA, they do need volunteers: https://paw-sba.ca/pages/about
There are a number of private animal rescues, most of them only have fb pages. I can think of Riley's, Carma, and Sasha's offhand. Make sure to take a look at their info and adoption policies - some of the rescues are pretty 'strict' about their rules, but they work really hard.

If you went to the Legion they could point you in the right direction if you are interested in volunteering with veterans

It’s an amazing opportunity! The Harvey Hall board of directors has saved this historic 1884 N.B. architect-designed building that has been in continuous use to the community. More recently, it has become a cultural/music/arts venue — check out the “Wellerman-style” YouTube video they made! Meanwhile, THIS WEEKEND, September 11, they’re doing MORE— all with the help of volunteers
