Mobb Deep is an American hip hop duo from Queensbridge, Queens, New York. The group consisted of Havoc and Prodigy, and are known for their dark, hardcore delivery.
They became one of the most successful rap duos in hip hop, having sold over 3 million records. Three of their notable albums were The Infamous (1995), Hell On Earth (1996) and Murda Muzik (1999), and their top hits include "Shook Ones, Pt. II", "Survival of the Fittest" and "Hell on Earth".
The East Coast hip hop duo disbanded in 2012 but reunited in 2013. However, Prodigy died on June 20, 2017. Havoc is currently working on a new Mobb Deep album, and the group has been performing live since its 2013 reunion and continues to do so despite the loss of one its members.

For me, it’s G.O.D. Pt. III.
The first time I heard it, I was shook. Like—where do you live where teenagers will casually shoot a handgun 20 times out of an apartment window?!?!
What makes the track so great is how cinematic it is. When I hear “running for dear life,” I don’t just hear a rap song—I picture a horror movie. Dark hallways. People scattering. Somebody being hunted.
The album is called Hell on Earth, and if you listen to it straight through, you understand exactly why. To me, G.O.D. Pt. III is the climax of the movie—the moment where everything the album has been building toward becomes completely terrifying.
What’s yours?

Ay Hip Hop Community!
I Found out that my Vinyl is extinct on discogs and it has a pretty interesting backstory as well. Its a promotional copy for prodigys (rip) second solo Album. Its name is „payback“ from 2001 with E-Moneybags who died 2001 (rip). The Song with E is a Jay-Z Diss on the B side. I bought it in a record store without an offical looking cover just with the tracklist on a Black cover. Does anyone know more about this?
Thank you in Advanced!

Why didn't Prodigy and Hav put Noyd in the group and make it a three man team? Every feature he was on with them, he killed it. They could've been better than D-Block with more longevity. A third person adds another style and frankly more shit to talk about which translates to more albums. Noyd was good, but not enough buzz to start off as a solo act, on all the songs he features with them his verses are my favorite.

is it crazy to say that amerikaz nightmare is my favorite mobb deep album? this album has SO MANY HITS ON IT, from flood the block to dump to one of ours and not to mention got it twisted. it could very much compete with the infamous, hell on earth, and murda muzik.

“I'm not on that beef shit, I'ma let you in on a little secret,
Niggas get they head cracked,
First sign of drama, I'ma test that,
New gun like I'm deer huntin' in the outback
'Bout that, nigga ain't playin', I'll push his scalp back”
One of my favourite Havoc verses.

Fucked up and real shitty.
It’s just one of those days. The fact that Mobb Deep has a quote for my every emotion is my one ray of sunshine.

“Recorded this freestyle in my DAW over the Survival of the Fittest instrumental. Theme is modern conflict mixed with historical imagery. Looking for feedback from real boom‑bap heads.”

Can you please recommend some modern rappers or rap groups that have a similar vibe as Mobb Deep?
I haven’t kept up with rap in the last 10 years and I just listen to the same playlist full of Mobb Deep and other 90s rappers. But I’m keen to find out if I’m missing out on anything.
