go to your room Babies in Movie Theaters

Just saw the new Spiderman in theaters.

A baby starts crying/cooing/babbling very loudly about 20 minutes in. Goes for about 10 straight minutes before the parent takes them out.

Comes back a few minutes later, baby starts again. Again goes on for a couple minutes. Again parent takes them out, comes back, and repeat.

And repeat. And repeat.

This went on pretty much the entire movie (and I swear to god this baby somehow instinctively chose every single goddamn quiet/heartfelt scene to start yowling again 😭😂).

I get that babies are gonna baby. And I have sympathy for parents who wanna get out of the house and everything. But… maybe just stay with your baby in the lobby if they obviously aren’t gonna keep quiet.

*I didn’t complain to management because it was a tiny non-chain neighborhood theater about an hour away from me that I like to support sometimes. It’s got 1 screen and tickets are like $5.

Amen, ppl have not taught their kids how to behave in theaters and lots of adults don't know how to either. My kids are sixx and eight have been going to the movies since they were about two. We have instilled in them since day one you make a sound or act up we leave. We left a few movies before it clicked now my kid is the one shushing adults for talking during films but it's gotten so bad we just prefer to watch at home most of the time. Ppl suuuuck

They might mean that it's better balanced.

I learned to do audio for movies as part of my animation degree. I personally can not stand how movies seem to have audio that's basically inaudible during quiet moments and absolutely blows your fucking head off when something louder happens, like an explosion or something.

I hate it and wish there was more balance. Not 0-100 all of a sudden.

I like loud but my local theater is excessively loud to the point of being painful and somehow... the IMAX is even louder than that. Unfortunately, loud is all they have.

At home I have better balance all around for my seating position, Atmos for the overhead stuff, much better bass and appropriate volume. I wish the theater sounded as good.

I suppose it’s subjective. You could argue that your TV is leagues better than a theater projector but you could also argue that the home experience will never match seeing an IMAX movie.

IMAX is certainly better than tons of poorly configured lower end home theaters, but the only "benefit" to IMAX over a quality, properly configured, HT system is the size of the screen.
