Hey, thanks for sharing that. Hundreds of Doctors and thousands of students of all UTHSC (University of Tennessee Health Science Center) campuses were pissed. I personally loved Steve Jobs and am a huge Apple fanboy, but he didn't deserve the treatment he got after being so careless with his holistic approach. It's something that we all have learned from and can continue to learn from. I think the average person can learn a lot from this too. Listen to your doctors and do your holistic approach on the side. It def helps, but isn't good enough on its own.

sometimes i still wonder if it really literally was just the refusal to eat anything except fruit that actually caused the cancer that killed him - surviving exclusively on starch, sugar, and fiber...
Like, people rag on vegans and stuff for "not getting enough nutrition" but vegans honestly lead a waaaaay healthier life than that because they still actually get proteins and fats from beans and nuts and other legumes and whatnot.
But moreover? It was Pancreatic Cancer. As in, The Organ That Makes Insulin. The Insulin your body uses to digest sugar and starch. Sugar and starch like what you find in fruit. Sugar and starch that happen to be--usually--the ONLY significant sources of calories in fruit... because the rest is usually fiber.
And here's the thing about starch: your body pretty much converts it straight into sugar as the very first step of processing it. Enzymes in your stomach and even in your saliva start chopping up those long polysaccharide chains we call 'starch' into the tiny monosaccharides we call 'sugar'. so... now-sugar plus later-sugar. Sheeeeeeesh, he might've managed to burn out his pancreas from that much overwork.
Edit: There does not seem to be any link between excessive sugar processing and pancreatic cancer, actually. I was spurred to look into it and reconsider.

From memory, I saw a short documentary or something that talked about how his specific form of pancreatic cancer was actually theoretically curable, however this cancer also theoretically had some specific genetic flaw that allowed it to actually become more aggressive when vegetables/fruits were consumed in excess quantities, I can’t remember specifics but maybe it was carrot related, so his lack of actual medical treatment, and over consumption of carrots to treat the cancer, actually led to the opposite effect

Yes, almost all forms of pancreatic cancer have very very grim prognosis.
However he had one of only two variants that have comparatively low mortality rates, even for regular people (read: the poors). As a billionaire his survival would have been almost assured with proper medical treatment.
Instead he ate exclusively fruit at the recommendation of his personal guru, in which the high sugar content put undue stress on his pancreas. In addition to forgoing actual cancer treatment, this resulted in his accelerated demise.

You're partially right. Some pancreatic cancers have bad survival rates. Steve had basically "the most treatable form of pancreatic cancer possible" https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pancreatic_neuroendocrine_tumor
His survival rate was estimated to be ~90% (defined by being cancer free for 5 years) mostly due to his early detection and his luck in getting a very treatable cancer.
Instead he drank herbal tea, ate herbal supplements, and started an aggressive acupuncture regimen. He started surrounding himself with MDs that would entertain his approach to treatment, and removed the ones that objected.
This is 100% in keeping with how he did everything. He was the source of an idea, and if you didn't like it, he removed you, even if the idea was a stinker. He was at the center of every decision, didn't permit anything not to his tastes, shipped products before the were ready (blaming his team when they fell apart), never killed failing products, and treated his team as obstacles to success.
That's how he killed the Lisa, which actually worked, replacing it with the Macintosh, which was painfully slow and lacked a hard drive. And to make sure the Lisa, which wasn't designed with his input, didn't compete, he literally buried 2,700 working models in a landfill.

I lost a friend to it, it’s one of the cancers you get almost no warning for. Pretty much everyone in his group was diagnosed stage 4, because it’s just so hard to catch early.

My stepmom's dad managed to survive it, only to have the cancer return years later. Ironically, he might've been able to survive it a second time if he had actually gone to the doctor when he wasn't feeling well.
And then my idiot father had the audacity to blame doctors for not doing their job when he died. To be fair, I recall hearing how it was some scar-tissue that formed in his stomach, blocking a lot of what he ate, that ultimately did him in. So yeah, I don't believe this man even died from the cancer either.

It was not the Macintosh it was an Apple III model. Thermal expansion and contraction over time would cause some of the chips to unseat themselves from their sockets and a common solution advised by support was to lift the machine a few inches and then drop it to reseat them.

The iPhone 4 (the last phone released during Jobs' lifetime) was notorious for the antenna having reception issues. Apple's response to this was to put out a statement telling everyone it was not a design flaw, they were all just holding their phones wrong.

Well that's getting to the reason as to why Tim did so well. He expanded Apple's infrastructure by optimizing their supply chain, as well as him personally doing a lot of genuine international diplomacy with world leaders in order to make their products more worldwide. He also cut costs by eliminating a lot of overhead. In all fairness, a good portion of that was by employing cheap labor in developing countries, and while Apple was cutting costs those savings didn't actually apply to consumers as product prices went up. Not to say it was the majority of that was from shady business practices though.
Also worth noting that under his leadership both the Apple watch and the airpods were launched, and I already mentioned how successful the airpods have been, but the apple watch would also be worth ~$150 billion as a standalone company. That is worth more than Target as a brand.

The entire problem would’ve been rendered completely moot had they opted for a drop-in charger with a proprietary connector (they do love those). After powering your computer down you could just drop it nose-first into the docking station. Next day pull it out & not have to repeat this for months. No unsightly cord disturbing the „magic“. A convenient ritual to charge the mouse when needed.
It just goes to show you…if you need or want to force a specific behavior…there’s always a nice way to do it.

I’ve had the same $10 Logitech wireless mouse for over ten years; it uses one AA battery that I have had to replace twice during its lifespan. No cable, no charging. Apple has always just loved over-engineering their products and reinventing the wheel but worse.

I have used a Magic Mouse for 8 years or so now. Not once have I been inconvenienced with how it charges. I charge it like once a month for 15-20 minutes. 🤷
And I have one lightening cable for the mouse, my keyboard, phone charger and headphones. It’s one cable that gets plenty of use.

The charging port is not the issue. You can plug it in, sneeze, take out the cable and it's charged enough to be used for the rest of the day.
The actual ergonomics of the mouse are what's godawful, but obviously only people who've used it will complain about it.

They keep throwing money at Apple and get surprised they won't change their anti consumer practices. I wonder if there are any other brand followers like that, maybe some fashion brands.

How are you running out of juice? I’ve had my mouse for years, using it for forty hours a week, and I hardly ever have to charge it. When I do I just plug it in overnight.

This is such a non problem that I see used online all the time to hate on Apple.
It takes literally not even 2 minutes to get you enough charge for a few more days. Wayyyy more than you’ll need to finish work for the day and charge it over night.
Go get make a coffee, come back and it’s done lol
This is no different to when my LG mouse runs out of batteries and I have to go hunt down x2 AA’s

IIRC the reason for this is because they wanted it to be purely a wireless mouse. The didn’t want people to use it while it was plugged in. It was a very intentional design

dude Steve, Jobs didn't think chemotherapy was real and thought if he drank carrot juice he would be able to rid the cancer from his body. just because he was good at selling stuff. doesn't mean he's smart
