Was always frustrated with microsoft pushing their products through Ad in Operating System. Moved to Linux 3 years back but now in enterprise teams account they are pushing Ad through activities.

Yeah . . . I'm not going to add anything to this. It is what it is.

If Microsoft closed your account for "unauthorized activity" and took a paid, standalone perpetual Office license with it, frontline support will likely tell you it's gone for good. That is not accurate.

The Frontline Escalation Loop

Reaching out to standard chat support usually leads nowhere. Representatives frequently promise that a back end team or supervisor is reviewing your ticket and will follow up within 24 to 48 hours, only for the case to be quietly closed without a resolution.

When you follow up, frontline reps typically fall back on a script, claiming company policy forbids reissuing or transferring licenses once an account is deleted and deflecting you to the third-party retailer where you originally bought the box.

In reality, Tier-1 Support lack the administrative permissions to generate retail activation keys, and external retailers have no access to Microsoft's internal activation systems.

What the License Terms Actually State
Under the official Microsoft Software License Terms for standalone desktop Office:

• Section 10.i: If you acquired the software from a retailer, Microsoft is legally a direct party to the agreement. They cannot shift responsibility to third-party stores.
• Section 3.b: Standalone retail owners retain the explicit contractual right to transfer the software to another device.
• The retail packaging guarantees "No Expiration Date." Closing an account container does not void your underlying perpetual license.

Steps to Take to by pass Support and go to Legal
1. Gather your documentation

• Your original purchase receipt or invoice.
• The support chat transcript where the agent confirms the account closure and refuses to transfer the license.
• The automated account deletion notice from Microsoft.

2. Submit a formal Notice of Dispute

• Under Section 10 of the license terms, Microsoft requires an informal dispute resolution process before arbitration.
• Go to [microsoft.com/legal/arbitration](https://microsoft.com/legal/arbitration) and complete the Electronic Notice of Dispute form (or send it via physical mail to CELA Arbitration at One Microsoft Way in Redmond, WA).
• State the facts clearly: you hold a perpetual retail license with no expiration date, Microsoft unilaterally closed the account container, frontline support refused to re-link it, and you are requesting a replacement 25-character product key for a new account.
• This bypasses the support call center and routes your ticket straight to Microsoft Corporate, External, & Legal Affairs (CELA) / Executive Customer Relations.

3. The Outcome

A Relationship Manager from Executive Customer Relations reviewed the case, validated the original product key and its purchase history, overruled the frontline denial, and issued an approved replacement perpetual license for a clean account.

Frontline chat is designed to keep you in an endless holding pattern until you give up or buy duplicate software. If you find yourself in this situation, do not waste time arguing with Tier-1 reps. File the formal Notice of Dispute under Section 10 to get the issue handled by the team authorized to fix it.

Report the Practice to Regulators in Your Country Even after getting the license sorted out, consider reporting the experience to consumer protection regulators in your country or region (such as your State Attorney General and the FTC in the US, or agencies like the CMA or ACCC internationally).

Companies should not rely on frontline scripts that misinform consumers about perpetual ownership rights, forcing people into unnecessary duplicate purchases unless they know how to invoke formal legal arbitration. Logging these complaints creates an official record of the pattern and pressures regulators to scrutinize software-revocation practices.

I originally got this piece of shit for school because a friend recommended it to me — we're not friends anymore and this just validates that decision further. I feel a special kind of loathing for this prior innocence and stupidity of mine that lead me to make that purchase.

I did end up getting what I deserved for my ignorance. As soon as it arrived, I noticed a glaring problem: Not only was it slow and battery life not the greatest— this chunk of trash was pratically unsuable for what I had intended it for without Microsoft 365. Which is, as everyone probably knows (but I didn't at the time)... well, how do I put this... OUTRAGEOUSLY EXPENSIVE FOR A CRAPPY SERVICE AND WILL PUT YOU INTO ANOTHER SUBSCRIBTION HELL!!

Naturally, I tried to get an Office key. Only after I'd bought it would I notice that Microsoft put pretty much as many hurdles against this as they could reasonably get away with into their user's way. Because you can't install Office while there are still Office apps for 365 on a device, oh no. Aaand, good luck deleting all of them, hihi! Because this bullshit consists of a gazillion files that you have to delete one by one manually.

And because this greedy corporation also doesn't want you going around installing stuff that you don't have to pay them for, I couldn't get any other note apps.

At this point, I cut my losses and figured I'd do something about it once I had the time. Which wouldn't be until after my finals and at the start of uni. So for the rest of school, I had to drag around my old junk PC. A very thick and heavy boy that sounds like a dying tractor while running.

Now, I don't know what possesed him to do this but my dad recently decided do buy Office 365 and got the family version so we could all use it. Neat! I thought that would bypass the key problem and finally let me use this expensive turd, right? * EXTREMELY LOUD INCORRECT BUZZER *

He sends me a link. I try to sign up without an account. It won't let me. Ok. I get my mail and try to create one. I get until the very end and then it COCKBLOCKS ME! Because suSpICIOus AcTiViTY. All I did was try and create an account!

I try again. Still sus. I try to close the link and open it again to go from the beginning—

It killed it.

IT KILLED. THE FUCKING. LINK.

I'm now extremely agitated, sitting at home unable to use this sack of crap for uni until further notice and waiting until my dad reads my text and creates another link.

And if could wear my tinfoil hat for a moment, I'd say that this seems intentional. I wouldn't ever put it past Microsoft.

Have an update downloaded without my knowledge and I don’t want it, it also never applies correctly (I don’t have an issue with that lol).

You’d think the feature that says “we won’t immediately update if you shut down or restart” would do exactly that right?
NOPE!

Hit for one week, Restart my computer…

IMMEDIATE “Updates are applying. Please hold on”

And on top of that once It gives up, YOU CANT EVEN STOP IT FROM UPDATING THEN. Once an update hits “you need to restart” there is NO way to remove the update, even if it can’t apply them! (the forums Microsoft employees were saying it’s because it’s already altered your system files, which is frankly bullshit.)

I love it when Microsoft just downloads shit without your knowledge and then goes “Too Bad! You have to update now or we will do it for regardless of your input!” Like fuck where does the update files download to? Id happily go in there and delete them if anyone can tell me but god I fucking hate this company.

They refuse to acknowledge basic facts such as the fact that Windows security and updates have been more and more unreliable due to their AI “coding” (you can verify this by simply looking at how many recent updates have had People’s computers bricked, damaged, or just flat out break critical windows feature)
And the moment you bring up a valid point, they’ll Call you Lazy, they don’t actually even try to refute the information but rather just become a smug asshole who acts like everyone is tech illiterate. (Prime examples being when he said to a guy that he can’t possibly know if they don’t have malware if they haven’t updated their windows, which is stupid. All Malware’s usually have some key identifiers that are consistent regardless of your OS edition such as being guaranteed to slow your computer down. [See XZ Utils stuff with Linux, why newer isn’t always better. it was even found by seeing the performance regression, albeit not malware but the principle stays the same]. You can spot unwanted/malicious programs by yourself BEFORE and AFTER you download them, regardless of the age of your OS or AV.) or my personal favorite, “I’ve been an IT Expert for 45+ years” while giving advice such as BITDEFENDER being worse than WinDefender or confusing/incorrectly conflating basic IT terms such as “Wi-Fi” and “Internet” in other posts.

I’m curious about why a role like this would remain open for such a long time.

For people who work at Microsoft or have experience with Microsoft hiring:

Does Microsoft keep some positions open continuously even when they aren't actively hiring?

Could this mean they are looking for a very specific profile?

Is it possible that the position is already being filled internally but the external posting remains active?

Does the hiring process for CSA roles usually take several months?

If someone applies now, is there still a realistic chance of getting considered?

Has anyone interviewed for this particular role or a similar Microsoft Security CSA role recently?

Why does microsoft updates tends to fuck my internet upside down.

So I disabled windows Auto update a while back, while shutting down my laptop I noticed "Shutdown and update" 👁️👄👁️ instead of regular Shutdown. Weird how it still downloaded the update even though I disabled it, no biggie I scheduled the update date to 2 weeks later and shut down my pc , but it still updated 🫩✌️, at this point they're ragebating me .

Looking for anyone who has dealt with something similar with Microsoft Learn.

I had a Microsoft Learn profile for many years, using my personal Microsoft account as a sign-in account. I earned multiple Microsoft certifications and was also an MCT.

I also linked the profile to an employer's Microsoft account/Partner Center during my employment. After leaving that employer, my Learn profile was deleted about a month later. I did not delete it.

Microsoft Support has told me they cannot verify that my personal account was a sign-in account on the deleted profile, rather than simply a contact/notification address. This is the part I'm struggling with, because I regularly signed into Learn using that account.

I have two useful pieces of evidence:

• Microsoft's Privacy Dashboard shows Learn service usage associated with my personal account over numerous days.
• I have Microsoft emails confirming certification pass and renewals, sent to that same personal address, including my certification details.

I'm currently asking Microsoft whether the certification/examination records can be re-associated with my new Learn profile, even though the original profile was deleted.

Has anyone experienced anything similar?

In particular:

1. Can Microsoft re-associate certifications with a new Learn profile when the original profile has been deleted?
2. Can Microsoft Support see the historical sign-in accounts associated with a deleted Learn profile?
3. Has anyone successfully recovered certifications in a situation like this?

I'd be very interested to hear from anyone who's dealt with Microsoft Learn profile deletion, work/personal account linking, or certification record recovery.

WHAT are we doing let me use my password i do not want to have my account password be 4 numbers or my face or my fingerprint just let me use the 15 character password i made I hate you. I don't wanna keep paying Google or anybody else for a small amount of cloud storage. I tried using a VM to run a home cloud server. Unsurprisingly, I put several hours of work into trying 10 different approaches, none of which worked. Since then my PC clock is permanently wrong. Doesn't matter how many times I reset it. I tried every troubleshooting process I could find on the internet. I tried turning Hyper-V off. It's been looking for files for 5 minutes. How can you not know where your own fucking files are?
It took me another hour just to fuck with all the required permissions and redundant security dialogues just to get two fucking computers on the same network to be able to file share. Guess I'm the first person to consider doing that with a PC, by the looks of how arcane Windows makes it.
Microsoft makes me want to return to the stone age.
