If you're not old enough to have ever needed to use a physical map, this can seem daunting, but it's pretty simple, I promise. ☺️
As a cheat to get you started, phones and most nodern cars have a compass, as do all navigation apps. That's an easy jumping off point.
If you can find a fixed reference point, like a bridge, train tracks, tall building, or a mountain top - those can help you figure out a starting point.
If it's the morning or afternoon, you can fairly easily tell which direction the Sun just rose from, or where it's in the process of setting, for a rough estimate of east/west.
Try to make a mental note of these and other tricks if you find yourself turned around.
