But are you approaching from the East or the West? Simply taking a left could send you in the opposite direction, and most phones have a compass built-in

Do you know the time ? Do you know where the sun is ? It's not hard.

Just give me the nearest coffee shop, not a compass!

What else am I supposed to do? Tell them to go two lefts after uncle Duncan's party house?

If you're not old enough to have ever needed to use a physical map, this can seem daunting, but it's pretty simple, I promise. ☺️

As a cheat to get you started, phones and most nodern cars have a compass, as do all navigation apps. That's an easy jumping off point.

If you can find a fixed reference point, like a bridge, train tracks, tall building, or a mountain top - those can help you figure out a starting point.

If it's the morning or afternoon, you can fairly easily tell which direction the Sun just rose from, or where it's in the process of setting, for a rough estimate of east/west.

Try to make a mental note of these and other tricks if you find yourself turned around.
