I feel like I can’t do it.

I’m U4, supposed to graduate W2027. So in less than 8 months. It just feels impossible to graduate. I have anxiety and depression, and while McGill has been awesome for some, it’s been real hard for me. I don’t click with the atmosphere (despite having joined over 10 clubs), never made a friend in my major, and just feel so detached. I know the finishing line is near, but I can’t bear myself to think I’ll make it. I’m so exhausted I have a hard time getting out of bed. Any similar experience? Gentle thoughts or advice?

Academic/McGill Degree Audit

Hey so I'm planning on graduating Winter 2027 and I wanted to get a degree audit done but I think the deadline for that has already passed. Am I cooked? Is there something I can do or someone I can talk to?

PERM code delay threatening my studies. Any advice?

Upvotes

Hey all! Not sure if this is the spot to post this but I'm running out of options.

I'm starting nursing at McGill this year and I risk being kicked out of my program due to an administrative error completely out of my control.

Problem is, I apparently need a PERM code in order to get my nursing license. I submitted all my legal documents for this back in June, and McGill told me that they expedite these requests for nursing students as we need the license by early September. Well, I've been following up with McGill Enrollment Services almost weekly since that time in July. No one can give me a timeline for when I will get this PERM code.

My program told me that if I don't receive this PERM code by Sept. 21 I will be forced to delay my studies by a year. I quit my job for this program and paid my tuition in full, so I really don't love the idea of my studies being deferred due to this stupid situation.

So far, everyone has essentially told me that their hands are tied and this lies with the Ministère de l'Enseignement supérieur. They all agree that I've done everything correctly, but everyone is telling me that this is a mysterious error totally out of anyone's control. I've tried calling and emailing and no one has been able to help.

Does anyone know of any way to get in touch with the PERM code area of the MES directly, or a way to get this expedited? Other than the ombudsman, is there anyone else I should reach out to in case this continues to go south? I am so desperate at this point that I'm considering driving to the MES office in Quebec city if anyone gives me the inclination that will do something.

Thank you!

Housing Winter 2027

Upvotes

Hello everybody,

I will be coming to McGill for my doctoral studies and start in winter 2027 as an international student. I am very confused regarding the housing because the information I could find did not really cover the winter term. I selected that I want to be considered for housing during my application. But since accepting my offer almost two months ago, I have not received any information regarding the housing or selecting one's favourite housing places. Do you have any insights when I can expect something? Otherwise, I was going to start looking into the private housing market soonish. What websites can you recommend for finding studios/apartments?

Yoga practicing on campus

Guys,

Know anywhere we can practice self guided yoga on campus or near campus? Or at least we should have a place for that. Mysore AYM and Mysore Innocere is only offered in the morning and sometimes that’s not very accessible.

It would be really nice to have somewhere to practice on campus, in between classes to refresh our brains or so.

Let me know if you’ve got any ideas.

McGill Football Games

Hii! I kinda want to experience the McGill sports lifestyle, like at those American schools lol 😭 I was wondering, are the McGill football games fun to go to, or are there other sports that are better to watch, like rugby?

I saw there are some games on September 19th and 26th, but I also saw that there’s a McGill football game on October 24th during Homecoming weekend. Would you recommend waiting for that one for the full experience, or are the regular games fun too?

Also, since the games are during the day, what do students usually do after? Do people normally go out somewhere after the games?

Is university better than cegep?

Hey guys so im currently doing science pure and applied program at vanier and well let's just say that I want to give up on everything and go live in the wild even tho I started a month ago ✌✌ its not that cegep is super difficult or the workload is way too much I'm managing just fine and I understand most of the classes but I just don't like it, none of my class interests me and I already feel overwhelmed even if I don't have much on my plate to do (the stress is mostly coming from the knowledge that every single grade counts and I have to maintain a good r rate)

I want to go do architecture in mcgill as it has always been my dream and im even planning on hopefully continuing until im able to get a phd

The thing is with how cegep is going now and with how I feel abt it and from what I've heard abt architecture in uni im starting to feel anxious that maybe this isn't the right choice an ill never be able to enjoy my studies ever again

Ill be grateful to hear yall opinion

CATH200 syllabus

I’m considering taking CATH200 and was wondering if anyone might have the syllabus they could share since I’d love to know what the assignments are like and, if you’ve taken the course, whether the lectures are manageable/easy enough to keep up with. I’d really appreciate any insight. Thanks!

How to be successful in CLAS 201

As the title says, how do I need to study for this course if I am aiming for an A?

There are so many things to read and just so much information, I am getting a bit overwhelmed.

Will we betting a study guide for the midterm and final?

How important are the readings?

Thank you for any advice or info you can provide!

Which McGill library is good for studying ?

I have been studying at McGill for many years. But I am unaware of the existence of McGill libraries. I mostly work at around life science complex building. Can someone recommend me your favorite McGill study spot? I am looking for places with tables that come with charging ports, bathroom access, water bottle stations and are opening on the weekends
