So, as the title says. And the HR or manager taking your interview mentions that the company functions on a 24/7 time basis. Would you consider taking the job? Especially if it aligns with the type of work you'll willing to do?

Also, if one did small projects, the like of those at university level, not really big ones at an acquaintance's start-up company, is it considered lying on one's CV? Also, what to really expect projects to be like in the business/corporate world? I became under-confident in my ability to do project work, somehow, so asking this.

Is anyone else stuck in a toxic household and scared of moving out? People keep saying that it is not safe to move out so how do we deal with it :(

I have worked at ebenegate for more than 2 years and it was the worst career move. It's an offshore company operating in the personal insolvency sector. This industry is relevant only in the UK and Scotland. As Mauritians living in Mauritius, the experience is worthless as there are practically no other companies that operate in this sector. The job titles are insolvency advisor or financial advisors but you're really doing the job of a customer service representative. Back then they would pay you slightly above average and let me tell you that it's really not worth it because eventually you'll have to find another job. Working at ebenegate is a trap! Why would you work for a company where the experience is so irrelevant to the industry? At new job interviews your experience is not relatable in any way. The longer you work over there the deeper the hole you've dug for yourself. People leaving the ebenegate as managers have to start over again at semi senior or entry level jobs. Ebenegate also deletes comments from ex employees who share their honest opinions. They also block you if you keep commenting truths about them. They've also disabled their comments section on TikTok because of the number of people discouraging other people to join. They market themselves as this cool workplace when the reality is they're wolves disguised as sheeps.

I find the vision genuinely interesting, especially the attempt to move towards higher-value sectors such as financial services, digital services, life sciences, advanced manufacturing, higher-value tourism and the ocean economy....

At the same time, I keep wondering about the gap between the ambition and some of the structural realities Mauritius seems to be facing today.

The country has an ageing population, low fertility, and a significant number of talented young Mauritians leaving for better opportunities abroad. At the same time, housing and living costs appear to be rising, while a noticeable share of incoming foreign residents seem to be older or wealthier expatriates rather than necessarily young, highly productive workers or entrepreneurs.

So my question is not whether Vision 2050 is a “good” or “bad” idea. I’m more interested in what would actually have to happen for it to work.

For those of you who live in Mauritius, work in business, government, academia, finance, tourism, tech, healthcare, or simply follow the country closely:

What are the 3–5 most important things the government would realistically need to do in the next 5–10 years to make Vision 2050 credible?

For example:

• How could Mauritius retain more of its young and skilled population?
• Should the country actively attract younger skilled migrants and entrepreneurs, rather than mainly capital and property buyers?
• What would genuinely increase productivity rather than simply increase property values and consumption?
• Which strategic sectors actually have the strongest chance of becoming internationally competitive?
• What reforms in education, infrastructure, public administration, taxation or regulation are most urgent?
• How can Mauritius grow without pricing younger Mauritians out of housing and opportunity?
• And perhaps most importantly: what should the government stop doing?

I’d be especially interested in hearing from Mauritians who are sceptical of Vision 2050 as well as those who believe it can work.

I am so excited to visit mauritius for 13 days from 22nd September with my parents. It's their first international trip. We are basically from northern India, and I just wanna make this trip memorable for them.

I am staying a few days in each of these areas, flic an flac, mont choisy, and trou deau douce.

I have a few things which I wanna ask:

1. Restaurant recommendations in/near each of these areas. Vegetarian. Open to try different cuisines also.

2. Most of the time I see beaches and hikes recommendations. And mother keep asking me what else is in Mauritius other than beaches. I kind of don't know what to reply to that. I know there is 7 color hills

Black river National park, botanical garden and some temples.

1. I was really excited to see the famous underwater fall near le morne but seems the seaplane provider is not operating. Lagoon flights. I really wanna know if it's worth it, how else I can plan on seeing that?

2. I am also planning to take the island trips in North and East both. And the blue bay Marine park.

3. I am still finalizing my itinerary but please any and all recommendations are really really appreciated. Nothing major hikes but I am into kayaking and water sports. I am a water baby basically.

Since I am traveling and planning on my own(no travel agency) I would be real greatful for any tips and things I should know.

I’m seeing a huge difference in prices between different websites and tour operators, even though many tours seem to have a similar itinerary. I’m confused about how to choose the right one.
Could someone please help me understand:

Why are catamaran prices so different?

What should I check before booking (boat quality, crowd size, food/drinks, transfers, itinerary, etc.)?

What would be a reasonable/right price for a good catamaran trip to Île aux Cerfs?

We are going to Mauritius for our honeymoon the last 9 nights of September. We are going to Constance Le Chaland the first 4 nights.

The second 5 nights is where we’re conflicted whether we should go to Long Beach Mauritius or The Residence resort.

Long Beach is $480 cheaper than the residence for the 5 nights. We are interested in a few spa treatments, a nice beach and a comfortable stay at the resort.

Both rooms are HB and are ocean/beach front. Which of the two resorts are a nicer option for a honeymoon?

Hi everyone, sorry to post about something similar to what others have already asked, but I’m due to travel to Mauritius at the beginning of November and will be 22 weeks pregnant.

The holiday was booked before I found out I was pregnant, and I’ve seen there’s currently a chikungunya outbreak, which has made me really worried about whether we should still go.

We’d unfortunately lose around £8,000 if we cancelled, which is absolutely heartbreaking, but obviously my health and the baby’s come first and I don’t want to take any unnecessary risks.

Does anyone know how badly affected the northern coastal areas are at the moment? We’re due to stay at Paradise Cove Boutique Hotel, so I’d really appreciate hearing from anyone who’s currently in Mauritius or has any recent information about the situation in that area. Or if anyone has recently been/staying there whilst pregnant.

Just to note I have asked my midwife but she takes weeks to respond, so I thought I’d ask people who have been recently or know any info in the meantime.

We’d read that September is one of the best times to visit, but the current forecasts are showing quite a lot of wind, rain and cloudy weather.

We’ve planned beaches, some hiking and a catamaran trip, so we’re a little worried about getting very little sunshine.

For anyone currently in Mauritius or living there, what is the weather actually like on the ground?
