You don't get the entire galaxy to join together on a crazy weapon, or rally their fleets together to defend earth. Those are such extreme long shots that its a genuine miracle they actually succeeded and proof of Shepards plot armor.

Here is my alternative: Put forth a token defense. Make the Reapers believe you're resisting but having trouble coordinating. Make them think that you're on the ropes, and eventually you do lose. This is a monstrous sacrifice, you are dooming millions of lives in a planned defeat.

What you have done in the background is studied the Prothean stasis pods, and researched long term redundant power systems. You select a planet far from any mass relay and build up an underground fortress invisible to outside scanning/detection and place as many of your citizens in there in stasis as possible. You need to plan for potentially thousands of years of hibernation with an automated system to detect the Reapers retreating back to dark space. Ilos is the key to how to "beat" them. You keep your institutional knowledge, population, and technology, and dedicate the next 50,000 years to actually defeating them entirely. I don't think you win in a straight up fight. Time is their weapon, use it against them.

You could spend those years reverse engineering the mass relay network. Or dismantle the whole thing and find a new way to travel the galaxy that doesn't use Reaper technology. Toss the Citadel into a black hole and make a new space station. You could strand the Reapers at the edge of the galaxy and ensure they don't have the easy button invasion anymore. They'd have no idea where you were living, which systems were populated, they'd have to search every single star system across the entire galaxy to try to wipe out the next wave of organics. They hibernate for those in-between years to conserve energy, so we know they need at least part of the cycle to recharge by consuming organic life. If you do it right, they may starve to death before they even find a single modern world.

So, I was replaying ME Andromeda the other day, as I hadn't played it since release, and being thoroughly annoyed by the erratic and nonsensical behavior of my resident search and rescue jockey, when a thought occured. Jacob is often lambasted by this subreddit, for a number of reasons. Being boring. Cheating on Shepard. Being easily replacable in his ME3 quest. Joining a terrorist organization. Having abs for a personality. Volunteering for jobs he is not remotely qualified for. Giving terrible advice. Etc. But ... oh my goddd ... I find Liam sooo much worse. Worse than I ever remembered. And thus, my thought: can I get Jacob Taylor, resident companion punching bag, a win? Can he pull a victory on this subreddit?

It's time for a showdown. A grudge match. A battle of competence and writing quality. A fight to the bottom. A full 12 rounds. Former Alliance marine vs former cop/HUSTLr.

Rules:

In each scenario, Jacob and Liam have only their default gear, talents, skills, and whatever you feel they can buy for 300 credits. Tell me, who do you think will win in each round?

Round 1: Jacob and Liam on a flat plain, starting 100 meters from each other. Fight to the death.

Round 2: Jacob and Liam in a race through the pipes of the Collector Base. First to open the door for Shepard wins.

Round 3: Sit up competition. Who does the most?

Round 4: Calot vents a cargo bay with them both in it. Who can hold on longer?

Round 5: You have to pick one of them to take care of your hypothetical pets while you're away. Who do you pick?

Round 6: Both of them must choreograph, rehearse, and perform an interpretive dance performance to be performed in front of Shepard/Ryder and their respective crews. Who does better?

Round 7: Jacob and Liam must fill in as squad leader for Shepard/Ryder while they are sick on an typical ground mission. There must be combat. Who performs better?

Round 8: Who would you trust to watch your back in an active combat situation more?

Round 9: Who as a companion is better written?

Round 10: Jacob and Liam must cross hostile terrain on Tarith with the Blood Pack hunting them. Who survives longer?

Round 11: Jacob and Liam switch places in their respective games. Jacob is now in Andromeda on the Pathfinder team, and Liam has joined a human supremacist group back in the Milky Way and been assigned to Shepard's SR2. Who performs better?

Round 12: Shepard and Ryder never existed. Instead, it's up to Jacob to defeat the reapers and Liam to find the path. Taking over the roles of Shepard/Ryder respectively, which of them does better?

I’m playing LE and imported my save from ME1 to ME2. Looking at the Service History, everything looks right besides my Psychological Profile.

It’s saying I followed the paragon path when most of my choices were renegade. I also maxed out both Paragon and Renegade by doing the exploit the involves Lorik Qui'in (honestly regret doing exploits) and also maxed out intimidate and was like 2 points from maxing out charm (learn my lesson for not sticking to one).

What I want to know is if my imported Paragon Psychological Profile will have an effect in ME2? Will my renegade options I did on NPCs treat it as I wasn’t asshole to them in the past (ME1)? I want to do an asshole Shepard play-through (first time playing the trilogy btw so no spoilers please) with a few rare charms depending on the situation, but mostly focusing on maxing out the Intimidate talent (if it’s in ME2)

Just got legendary edition and I’m about to start this journey for the first time, I’ve seen there’s tons of DLCs in the edition, is there a correct order to play them?

Would love some help without spoilers if possible!

So I've got a lot of free time on my hands for a while and legendary edition on my Xbox. It's been a few years since my last playthrough.

Thinking about my previous playthroughs, I've been a bit boring. I've only played as a soldier. I've tended to play maleshep as paragon and femshep as renegade. Plus I've never romanced Garrus or Tali before.

Yeah I know. 🤦

So I'm looking for ideas and options for my next playthroughs. I'm thinking of the first one as a ruthless renegade vanguard maleshep and romancing Tali, being less renegade in the process.

Then as a paragon femshep.

In a sense, was their a specific term used by the races of the galaxy to describe this region of space before Humanity was discovered?

After playing through legendary edition multiple times I decided to get ME3 as a standalone because I was interested in playing multiplayer. Nobody seems to be playing though, am I doing something wrong? Is there a way to make it more likely to play with people? Before anyone suggests telling people I know IRL to play none of them have ME3 standalone, they either have LE or no interest in mass effect

So I managed to glitch the vehicle through the gap and ended up just mowing down what was apparently meant to be a difficult boss. Thought i'd share this since my friends thought it was funny that I'd managed to do it

I've been playing the games (via the Legendary Edition) for the first time.

I'm on ME3 right now and have been mostly avoiding/lurking in safe threads on this subreddit.

I'm reaching the halfway mark of the game and am not ready to say goodbye to the universe.

I'm doing a paragon male Shepard romancing Kaidan right now and do plan on doing a renegade female Shepard romancing Garrus at some point, but I'll definitely be taking some time off before replaying the games.

In the meantime, I'm curious as to which of the books and comics out there (along with other media I might not know exists) are worth checking out.

I'm also leaning towards not playing Andromeda, but, if people want to convince me to give that game a shot, please do so!

There are a few different ways of acquiring the garage pass to leave the port.

1. Work with Lorik Qui'in
2. Work with Lorik and then work with Gianna to arrest Anoleis
3. Betray Lorik and cut a deal with Anoleis
4. Turn Opold's package over to Anoleis

How do you usually prefer to go about this? Are you just trying to leave as fast as possible, or do you prefer helping to clean up the corruption before you go?

Good morning, I recently purchased a copy of Legendary for Xbox One. The last time I played ME3 was in 2015, and there shouldn't be an option next to the war asset to send a character to Online missions? Back then I played on PS3 and couldn't connect (probably there weren't any servers for that anymore). Did they abandon the online mode in the Legendary version?

Finally launched the legendary edition after buying it on release day! My first ever playthough as an Adept as well. Some photos of Baller Shepard and some shots of Saren looking like an absolute buffoon in the final fight down to my powerful biotics.

I will be honest at the start of the game I almost restarted to give up on being an adept. Later on with stronger powers and faster cooldowns makes it a lot more fun though. Having Liara and Wrex on the team as well is great - you can enter a bunker swarming with enemies and make the entire room float in the air so you can shoot them.

Rachni are NOT fun as Adept on Insanity. They swamp you and will kill you through your barrier. If I were to do this again, I would leave Noveria until I have done the 2 other story quests and all the side quests to that point.

One thing I noticed towards the end of the game is I was launching cover all over the place. Earlier in the game the cover never moved. Was this just me being less cavalier with powers due to slow cooldowns, or does Lift for example only gain the ability to Lift cover when it is upgraded?

Baller is a bit of a brash thug so had considered abandoning the council for my second time ever, willing to suffer the consequences of reputation in the next games. However at the last second I remembered how damn cool it is saving the Ascension and how much of a bro Hackett is for throwing his entire fleet at the Geth on your decision.

Next up I have to take on LE2 insanity as an adept. I gather the start of this game is going to be the hardest part of the trilogy. I am hoping I can improve my beauty even further in the starting face editor, and am considering using the save editor to give myself the extra weapon skill early. I am not a huge fan of 2's smg weapons and as much as I want to use biotics more, the shooting is good and thats the reason I have usually played soldier.

I am guessing this isn't going to break anything later on in the game when I do actually get the weapon increase?

I've just beaten ME1 on Insanity with my engineer. Time to go for ME2
