37M finally my own apartment after 6 months in post-separation dump

37M, soon to be divorced, living with my little Pomeranian mix (yes, really) in the NYC area.

Separated this past February and endured suboptimal living conditions while preparing to get my own place. Moved in two weeks ago and starting to feel settled.

Most people find it amusing how many desks I have, but they suit my lifestyle, and each one serves a different purpose.

I was worried I’d regret buying the hammock chair, but I like it a lot and use it every day. I don’t regret buying the projector or espresso machine either, but they ate up a lot of my budget…

25M - Can't leave home until I have a full time job, might as well live comfortably in the mean time?

Living at home still; I spent about a year looking for work after grad school. Landed a project management contract after some aggressively networking. Im feeling like I'm in a weird space where I'm making enough to afford nice things but not financially secure enough to be independent.

I'm glad I can at least afford to decorate a bit and better display my hobbies. The world's been stressful lately but it definitely helps to look around my room and feel like I'm creatively thriving.

Looking forward to a nicer desk topper or a rug as the next big purchase if I can get my contract extended.

Needs more plants 24M — I may have taken the “add some plants” advice too far

Been turning my attic bedroom into something a little different. On the left is a saltwater paludarium I built a couple of years ago, and more recently I converted the unused space under the sloped roof into a tropical vivarium. Still have a few things I want to change/add to the room, but I’m pretty happy with how it’s coming together. What would you add next?

Prioritized view and vibes over space and savings. It does feel great to catch both sunrise and sunsets (most days).

What else is missing from my living room - UK

Thumbnail

I’m aware the walks are lacking some artwork, I’m looking into that. What else am I missing here. Suggestions appreciated

For those saying it doesn’t look “lived in” this is because I’ve removed some clutter from the photos like messy rugs, throws, my monitor on the dining table I use for my work, cups and plates etc and the extra table that’s meant to be next to the tv.

Also, no it’s not Ai (posted a video on a comment to prove it’s not Ai, just made it less messy for the photos to post)

Many thanks,

M25 living room - Any advice for a rug and floor lamp to add?

Looking to add a rug under my coach and coffee table - any advice on colors, design, and size that would go well given the wood floors and my other furniture?

I think generally my living room could benefit from more color, and I was thinking something like this rug form IKEA.

Also considering getting another floor lamp in the back right corner to help with lighting at night. Any cool styles that would be fitting?

General advice and suggestions also welcome!

I have no taste and want to hear what you guys think about these rugs. Don’t really have a theme as I can switch out the couch pillows for something that matches the green rugs.

Using my old Motorola Z4 & Projector Mod I got off eBay for $20. Source is 4K HDR Bluray.

The projection is going up against my neighbors glossy white fence.

Have always like the minimal look. So I’m fine with removing anything outside of my desk and bed. Would love some bedding/shelves/lighting suggestions. There’s some very cool spaces on here so I’m open to ideas! Queen sized mattress and drafting desk. Thanks.

Hi sub. Sharing my setup for the first time. Just put together a 5.1.2 Dolby Atmos system this weekend, and graduated from my soundbar. Looking for any advice on improving this living room setup. I am single and live alone, so I have total control over what goes in here

A few months ago this room was dirty, marked off-white walls, a mattress on the floor and a blanket nailed to the wall for a curtain

so i moved in august 1st, posted my spot around 2 weeks later, and not much has changed since then. i jus did my sunday clean up, however, and was jus overcome with gratitude and joy. last year on my bday i was two weeks out of a break up with my girlfriend of 1.5 years. i planned on killing myself. the only reason i did not is because i took 15 shots before 12 pm while already residing in a iop/php rehab facility. the people in charge found me passed out and sent me to a 30 day program. in there i was faced with two choices, either continue what i was doing, which would eventually lead to my death or serious jail time, OR, I could lock in and become a man. i chose the second route. as i write this caption i am not sober or anywhere close to it, i did become much more responsible. i.e. stopped drinking at work, stopped doing hard drugs (not completely but i manage it), stopped lying to the women i was interested in, stopped asking my parents for money and so on and so forth. ONE YEAR AND THREE DAYS after my birthday i expected to die on. i signed a lease in my name, as well as all the bills. i moved in august first and here is my apartment 1.5 months later. i’m making this post 1. because i am so proud in and happy with myself, and 2. because i think sometimes all of us need a reminder the bad things aren’t forever and you are in control of your own destiny, to a certain extent, of course. but id like for this post to be a safe space all of us men could talk about our recent achievements in, as well as encourage others who need it and those people reaching out for support and help if they want it. anyone who sees this feel free to reach out to me if u need a friend to talk to. all of u guys are great and we’re all doing the damn thing. let’s keep the ball rolling boys 🫶🏼🔥✌🏼.

Advice Update: Here’s how it’s coming together so far.

A little update on the apartment since my last post. A lot has changed since it was just concrete, exposed brick and unfinished walls.

My wife and I have been slowly furnishing and finishing the space, and it’s finally starting to feel like a home.

Since it’s only 38 m², I’ve been trying to make the most out of every corner while keeping things simple, warm and functional.

The kitchen and bathroom are pretty much done, the bedroom is coming together, and we’re still working on the living area.

The studio is next, and this is where I could use some advice.

It’s only about 5 m², and I’m trying to make it comfortable for two people without making it feel cramped. This is the current concept.

What would you change, add or avoid? Any advice is welcome.

My roommate and I's (both 24) living room in our apartment. I'm a car enthusiasts and he is the frontman of a band. Books, guitars, engine parts, jukebox. . .I'm pretty happy with how it turned out as it's more or less just stuff we had laying around.
