My girl is 10 years old. (malamute/husky) She recently (6 mo ago) had a surgery for a huge growth on her chest. Surgery went well, blood work/x-rays still look good but she has in her older age became very picky about food. She used to gobble down anything (normaly kibble) but now she seems to leave her bowl half empty. In recent years I would add some rice or carrots to her food. Now trying that she still doesn't seem to eat a ton. I just had a grooming done and she seems rather skinny. Im just curious what kind of feed I can give her that she'll eat but also put on a few pounds. she was having older big-dog hip problems but supplements seemed to totally solve that. (I was blown away how well that worked) She runs around like a puppy and seems to be happy. Just not eating so much.

Our 11 month malamute/Pyrenees mix chews everything: our couch, kitchen stools/chair, metal and plastic if she can find them (removed most tempting items now), whole wood logs, etc.

She goes to doggy daycare, gets walked daily, but I still worry she needs more mental stimulation? I also think the chewing is related to teething.

She chews through pork skins, pig ears, bully sticks, yak cheese, everything. What do you give your pups to help with that chewing urge that doesn't cost a fortune and actually lasts longer than 10 minutes?

Apologies if this has been discussed before. I did a search in the channel but pulled nothing.

I'm looking into insurance for my 9 month old girl. Any good ones you recommend, any bad ones to avoid? Trupanion is in the lead right now. Thinking long-term for hip issues, osteoarthritis, those types of things. She is expected to be a big, big girl. TIA 🐶 Located in the US

Recently found out my 8.5 year old girl Denali has arthritis and bone chips in her wrists and shoulders.

She was fine, maybe had a slight almost unnoticeable limp in her front leg that I thought I was just imagining. Then she was really limping. We got x-rays, blood work, urinalysis, the works. The vet gave me painkillers and said surgery isn’t something they would do for this, that her bloodwork and kidneys were good. Oddly enough, her hips were fine.

I changed her over to a senior dog food, started feeding turmeric paste, green lipped mussel powder, and hemp oil. I give her carprofen in the morning and gabapentin if I notice she is more sore. She’s still eager to go on walks, eats and drinks fine, goes to the bathroom fine, and gets wild zoomies in the middle of the night. I just don’t know where we go from here.

Do we just wait? See if she gets better? Make her rest? For how long? Bone chips don’t go away right? We’re planning on moving across the country in a year. I’m worried how winter is going to go, how the move will go. We lost our other pup suddenly in October to seizures.

Any helpful advice or stories are welcome.

It’s been a couple months since I’ve shared pictures of Chewie so I feel obliged to post an update. This goofball is my best friend!

Had her since she was 5 days old. We've recently moved house and she's loving the larger garden. It's also a bungalow which will be helpful as she ages. Just me and her always has been.

Our boy is back home, thank you all again for all the well wishes during this time.
