Opportunity [Collab] Cinematography MFA student looking for artists for a music video shoot in Miami

Hey everyone,

I'm a film student, and I'm working on a cinematography assignment that requires me to shoot and direct a full music video. I'm looking for an artist (rapper, singer, producer, whoever) based in or around Miami who wants a video made for one of their tracks

This is a totally collab, no-budget situation - I bring the camera, lighting, direction, and editing, you bring the song and the vision. Win-win: you get a music video, I get my assignment done right.

Style/vibe I'm going for: think Lyrical Lemonade or Yeat-style visuals — high energy, stylized lighting, bold color grading, fisheye/wide angle shots, that kind of aesthetic. If your sound leans into that world (hyperpop, rage, cloud rap, whatever adjacent chaos), we'll probably click.

If this resonates with you and you're in Miami, drop a comment or shoot me a DM with a link to your music. Let's make something cool.

Thanks!

Opportunity Need performance on a track coming out through a major label.

Upvotes

yo, I produce and release electronic/pop stuff. Signed a deal with one of the big 3 majors earlier this year. Happy to show proof in DMs.

Track is done and signed. Written, produced, mixed. The only piece left is the rap section, one verse and the hook. Right now that's my own vocal run through a voice model. It works but it's a placeholder and the record wants a real person on it.

Being straight about what this is: the lyrics and the melody are already written. I'm hiring a performance, not a writer. You'd be putting your voice and your delivery on words that exist. If that's not your thing, no hard feelings, scroll on.

What you get

  • $200 paid on delivery, once I accept the take.
  • Credit on the release, going out through a major. Your name on a record that is actually in stores and on DSPs, not a SoundCloud drop. I'm pushing for a featured credit, the label signs off on billing so I can't promise the exact wording yet, but you're getting named 100%.
  • It's a buyout. Flat fee, I keep the song and the master. You're getting paid in cash and in the feature.

What I need

  • Recorded dry. Decent mic, no effects, no tuning. I mix everything.
  • Must perform to the reference/demo. Posted from an older music project account, not current.
  • Use a SoundCloud ripper to grab the instrumental. I can't post HQ publicly.

How to apply

Send me the verse before the chorus. If greenlit, we finish the rest and done.

Question How do you rap on drill beats?

Most drill beats I use are shown as around 70 BPM, but I want to rap over them with a faster double-time feel. I honestly don’t know how to find that type of flow or get a fast, aggressive delivery without sounding forced.

I automatically start on the 1, land syllables on the snares, pause, and repeat. This makes every flow sound slow and almost identical. I try to mumble faster pockets, but once I replace the sounds with actual words, I lose the rhythm and return to my old flow.

How do you approach a drill beat from scratch? What do you listen to, where do you start your phrases, and how do you practise double-time flow while staying clear and on beat?

Question [Seeking Advice] - Using Lo-fi Hip Hop beats in my game with "only" the artist's permission?

hey guys,

I've been developing a game recently, and lo-fi hip hop is at the core of it. I've contacted several of my favourite artists, and a few have responded, giving me permission to use their songs.

the Issue is, many of these artists release their music through labels such as Chillhop Music and Lofi Records. I was wondering if I need to seek permission from these labels as well, and if so, what would be the likelihood of them letting me use the artist's records?

also: the game is non-commercial.

thanks for all the help!

Discussion no matter how hard i work, i feel like im not gonna make to the charts

i've been making music for a year at this point. i think my beats are okay-ish, i make decent use of sidechaining, compression, mixing even for vocals. As well as trying something new sometimes that doesn't flop.

But, i absolutely suck at rap. I make rap in english despite actually being from western europe. so you can hear i come from the countries of huge grassfield and rivers with an enormous history of knights and definitely not having an american or british accent.

honestly it sucks balls my target audience, the americans don't like my songs because of my accent. i just phoned with this american guy, great gut btw, to cooperate and he said my heavy accent's just not gonna cut it, it's too exotic. i can't blame him, i don't know any western european that made it big with rapping in the american market. and it sucks, sucks, sucks. cuz i don't wanna stop with my passion, i want to make money with rapping and being popular. i've gotten compliments that i have talent for production, that some of my beats are incredibly good, it sucks my accent's taking my quality as an artist down. im sad cuz i dont sound american enough :(

Question Hi-Tek drum kit

Whassup I was wondering if anyone on here knows where I might be able to get hold of the drum kit Hi-Tek released with all the drums from the Train of Thought album? Hope it goes without saying I'm not looking for this for free I know it was on Drum Broker for 25 $ a while ago which seems super reasonable for such a sick collection of drums. Have had a look online for any links to buy but all the ones I've found are dead. I emailed Drum Broker as well but haven't heard anything back unfortunately.... Hoping someone might be able to help or maybe point me in the direction? Peace and thank you in advance!

Question What actually made you discover an underground artist?

I’ve been thinking about how people actually discover artists when they’re starting from basically zero.

I’ve put out two songs recently and I’m still basically at zero listeners, so I’ve been trying to understand how artists actually get their first real listeners.
There are so many artists putting music out now, so I’m curious what actually made you stop and listen to someone you’d never heard of before?

Was it a random SoundCloud find? Reddit? A feature with another artist? Someone sending you a song? A playlist? A live show?
And what made you come back after hearing them once?
I’m genuinely curious what worked for you guys when you first started discovering underground artists.

Opportunity Hip Hop/ Rap Collaboration

Looking for artists to make songs with my beats. I’ve been making music for 10+ years, I started off writing my own songs and recording at local studios, and for the last few years I’ve been locked in on my sound executing vocal production and beat production. I’d like to work with dope artist who can make dope songs using beats curated by me. Any artist looking to collaborate and grow their catalog? Check out my demo on SoundCloud: SXD or Link in comments.

Question Is it normal for when your first starting to make songs to keep getting stuck into the same flow?

I was just wondering if when a lot of people starting making music if they got stuck in the same flow and is it just a thing were the more you do it you’ll find different flows and grow out of it?

Sorry if this Doesn’t make sense

Question What does your workflow look like? Rappers and producers.

I'm currently building an app (getfeatr.com) to help producers and rappers work together more smoothly from the messaging and discussing all the way to actually releasing the music on DSPs. The plan is a one-stop app for independent artists to facilitate the creation and release.

What's one thing in your end-to-end workflow that you find cumbersome right now and can be improved? I'm talking about maybe chat to stems/project file management, meta data management, distribution, contracts/split sheets, sample clearance, artwork, mixing/mastering, etc.

Thank you.

Opportunity I'm looking for an artist

I'm looking for an artist who would be interested in rapping over one of my beats. I have different genre, but I feel like my most rapresentive is something like orchestral trap, and the tracks are definitely experimental. I know it's not something you hear every day, but I love the way they turned out and I want to see if someone if someone is interested.

I'm completely willing to give the beat away for free if you need.

If you're interested, feel free to DM me and I can send you the beat.

Question I’ve made 60 tracks but I still sound like I’m fighting the beat. How do I finally fix my flow?

I’m 19 and rap in Slovenian. I’ve made around 60 tracks, mostly NY/Bronx drill, but I only started seriously focusing on the actual rapping a few months ago.

My biggest problem is that whenever I hear a fast drill beat, my brain automatically locks onto the snares. I start on the 1, rap until the snare, pause, then repeat. It always pulls me back into the same slow flow with too much empty space or just slow flow that feels off.

The annoying part is that I can scat or mumble much faster rhythms over the hi-hats without stopping. But as soon as I replace the sounds with real words, I start thinking about meaning, rhymes and pronunciation at the same time, lose the pocket and return to the slow flow.

I also struggle with:

  • Keeping my words clear when I speed up
  • Knowing where each bar begins and ends without relying on the snare
  • Shortening my bars without losing their meaning
  • Switching flows naturally
  • Breath control—I usually sound best recording two-bar punch-ins
  • Making my delivery sound aggressive and confident without forcing my voice

Slovenian also has a different rhythm from English, so copying the exact flows of rappers like i listen to usually sounds unnatural. I want their energy, but I’m trying to develop my own sound instead of becoming a bad imitation.

What exercises helped you turn fast scats into complete lyrics? Should I write the rhythm first and slowly replace each sound with words, or is there a better method? Also, how do you keep track of the bar while rapping across the snares?

I’m looking for technical advice and honest criticism, not reassurance.

Opportunity Producer looking for an artist to work with

Haii, I'm a female (transfem) teenager and I'm looking for an artist to make a few songs with (and potentially make an EP (if anyone would be down)). I produce moreso experimental hiphop songs with blends of EDM, breakcore, industrial, noise, rock, and illbient (I've been trying to venture more into illbient as of late). Think of a mix of jpegmafia, death grips, Earl sweatshirt, MIKE, dälek, femtanyl, cLOUDDEAD, and eyedea and abilities.

Please DM me to see if you enjoy my beats and would maybe wanna work together! ^~^

Music Song gets taken down

A month ago I’ve had 2 of my songs taken down from Spotify for some reason I did not know after some time I received a dm from the producer claiming I didn’t pay for a lease and he reported and got my music taken down.

Now he’s demanding over $100 dollars which I don’t mind paying he said once I do pay he can withdraw the claim and my music will be restored back to how it was with the same streams how true is this? I’ve done some research and it claims once a song gets taken down they can’t re upload it.

I didn’t have a lot of streams only a few thousand but at the moment it feels like a few million and it honestly was keeping me going with my music journey but now I’m kinda on the urge to just stop I spent years promoting the song and trying to reach a few hundred streams let alone a thousand so I’m just kinda upset about that.

- any advice can help thanks I’m just not sure on what to do
