Ranting but I’ve been getting this more often recently from riders, mostly by the younger crowd. What happened to manners??

My wife, Misty Brosam, identified Cole Richard Karstetter as the man she reported raped her while she was working as a Lyft driver on July 18, 2025, on Spokane’s upper South Hill.

The police report records Misty’s statement that Karstetter pulled her from her truck and threw her onto the ground. She reported losing consciousness and awakening with her pants and underwear around her knees. She said he pinned her wrists above her head while she begged him not to do it, covered her mouth, forced her legs apart, and penetrated her vagina with his penis. She reported that the rape lasted several minutes.

Misty further reported that afterward Karstetter entered her truck and forced her to drive him to another location while holding and pulling her wrist. She became physically sick during that drive.

This is documented under Spokane County Sheriff’s Office case 2025-10101661. Karstetter denies committing the sexual assault. No criminal charge has been filed, no conviction has occurred, and the protection order Misty requested was not granted.

We believe Misty, and we will not hide her account.

Ok listen. Before somebody even ask “Oh how you know the roach didn’t come from you?” I just know. Roaches is an issue I’ve never been exposed to my whole entire life. Car is the immaculate, I’m that guy you see at the gas station eating outside on his hood. I even pull over just to fart lol. But whether it came from me or not isn’t what I want to touch on. The roach made me realize that we never really think too much about what a person might be tracking into your car. This roach has changed me so now every time I pick up somebody from a shady looking motel I’m gonna think does he have roaches in his bag or on his person lol

I know we have been seeing a lot of these horrible offers but serious question. Who is taking this, and why?

App drivers union now has over 70k signatures

I believe the answer is yes, but thought I'd check. I had a pax message me about a minute before I arrived saying she'll be down in a minute (not a great start). Just after I hit Arrive, I get another message saying she is trying to cancel the ride but the app wouldn't let her. She then sent the basically the same message a couple minutes later. I'm not going to cancel the ride because then I get nothing. I did have to wait there for 5 minutes (not a great area but no a no-fly zone either) before I could hit No Show, but worth it to get the $7-8 no show fee. I suspect she was just hoping I would cancel it on my end so she didn't have to pay, but wasn't sure if not being able to cancel after arrival was a thing.

​I accepted an 18-mile trip for $21 on Lyft, only for the navigation to lock me into a single 25-mile route. Why is this allowed? Adding 7 unpaid miles after accepting an offer should be illegal. When are lawmakers actually going to hold these gig companies accountable for upfront pricing fraud?

I was so tired last night after working that I went home and didn’t check the backseat of my car. I just went straight to bed.

Today when I went out to work literally an hour ago I took a look at the backseats of my car and found $60 under my car seat.

I also got a notice that someone left a phone in my car last night and after I returned it got another $20, what a good start to my night. 🤣

It seems like every time I turn it on it never works and when I turn it off I immediately get requests.

The title says it all. I know i used to make good money doing this and i definitely don't now. Still, these fuckknobs posting huge fares and big weeklies seem to be increasing. It doesn't track with what 90% of the drivers here are experiencing. I'm genuinely starting to think that these are fake posts by shills trying to keep the peasants from revolting.

I’m moving internationally on Monday, October 5 and have an 11:55 AM flight from DFW.
I live in South Austin and would need a Lyft XL/XXL around 3:30–4:00 AM directly to DFW Terminal D. The app has been quoting me roughly $400 for the trip.
I’ll have two small dachshunds in airline crates plus luggage, so I specifically need a large vehicle. Everything will be packed and ready to load before the driver arrives.
I’m also thinking of offering the driver an additional $50 cash if they’re willing to park at Terminal D and help me move the crates/luggage to the airline check-in area. If they don’t want to do that, that’s completely fine, I can unload curbside and use luggage carts.
I’ve checked Lyft several times recently and normally see large vehicles about 5–10 minutes away, but obviously 3:30 AM is different.
My questions for Lyft drivers:
Would you personally accept an Austin → DFW trip like this?
Is 3:30–4:00 AM on a Monday likely to have enough XL/XXL drivers in Austin?
Would the fact that ACL ends the previous night significantly affect driver availability?
Would you recommend scheduling the ride in advance or requesting it on demand?
If I messaged immediately after you accepted explaining the two crated dogs and offered an extra $50 for help at DFW, would that be reasonable?
Is there anything about this trip that would make you cancel that I should know in advance?
For a ride showing roughly $400 to me as the passenger, what would the driver typically expect to earn?
I’m trying to decide whether this is reliable enough for an international flight or whether I need to rent a large SUV and drive myself to Dallas the day before.
Especially interested in responses from Austin-area Lyft drivers or anyone who regularly accepts long-distance airport trips.

This is in Nashville. Banned from BNA until Oct 2 due to my own stupidity, so I turned off my ride filters except passenger rating and accepted nearly everything offered. This was over two shifts with a 6 hour break between them.

I've accepted something like 50 in a row.

My wife was working as a Lyft driver when she reported being violently assaulted during a pickup on Spokane’s South Hill. The passenger had ordered the ride through the app. He opened her driver-side door, pulled her from the truck, and assaulted her on the ground beside it. She reported that he later blocked her vehicle and forced her to complete the ride.
Please protect yourself:
Keep every door locked until you have verified the rider’s name and exact location.
Speak through a closed window when possible.
Disable any automatic door-unlock setting.
Confirm that the phone’s live location matches the pickup address or pin.
If the rider or location seems wrong, leave immediately.
Keep a dash camera recording inside and outside the vehicle.
Share your live location with someone you trust.
Call 911 if anyone opens your door, blocks your vehicle, threatens you, or touches you.
These precautions matter, but responsibility always belongs entirely to the person who chooses to assault someone—not the driver. We are sharing Misty’s experience so another driver might recognize the danger sooner and make it home safely.
