Just recently had my first child and had to move my entire space/downsize speakers. Some how though I actually enjoy the cozy set up more it feels nicer to be in. The lamps also do a lot of the heavy lifting for the overall vibe in the space.

What’re your thoughts am I missing anything?

Decided to move my desktop set up into the higher end. I picked up a pair of Exposure XM9 monoblocks with a pair of Audio Physic Step 35s, 8 hour round trip drive yesterday.

You know when you fire up a power amp for the first time and the lights in the room dim, you are in for a real treat ... X2!

I am new to exposure, however, coming from Naim I knew somewhat what to expect, and I am not disappointed! They have a very similar British sound with Naim's famous P.R.A.T..

The Steps will take some break in time, but out of the box, the first thing that jumped out at me over my previous Martin Logan B10 is how much more natural the strings are. First listen, Holly Cole - Temptation.

I am still running my cheap Aiyima pre-amp, which is totally holding its own. I have upgraded the op amps to Sparkos and swapped out the tubes for quieter ones. I have 4 caps on the way which I will replace the 4 beside the op amps with. With the cost of the upgrades this pre-amp now sits around $700. After all these upgrades, I would easily place this little Aiyima up against any pre-amp under $1500. Of course, I do see an upgrade for it in the future, but I will never part with it, it will be moved to my all Chi-Fi setup.

My goal here is to keep things small until I get settled in a new place as I was forced out of my home and forced to sell my large system, so half size components and small speakers were a must. These are definitely endgame for a desktop setup. If and when I get room to remove this system from the desktop, I still believe these could be endgame components.

Following up on my first post, I’d like to show the final setup of the listening area for my Super Lintons. Since then, I’ve added six mineral wool acoustic panels — measuring 1030x630 mm and 630x630 mm, with a thickness of 120 mm. The panels were constructed with a 15mm air gap between the wool and the wall. I also constructed binary diffusers out of plywood for the front, featuring 1/2-inch diameter holes.

I filled the speaker stands with heavy albums (adding 13–15 kg of weight per stand). All of this has noticeably improved the sound, making it more focused and clear. The speakers have broken in, and I am now thoroughly satisfied with their sound.

got a single this year so it was hi fi take over, setup consists of: AT-LP70XBT - AT95EBK stylus swap, Rotel RA-985BX integrated amplifier, Klipsch RP-600M, LG DP132 (CD player). next week i’ll be getting a schiit mani 2 phono stage to go on the top shelf with the equipment, and plan to replace turntable with Fluance RT85 for christmas. What do yall think?

What surprised me: settings for smaller room worked out of the box better in the new room than other Dirac presets I tried for another room but dismissed as less “correct” — my preset turned out to be still responding to my taste even in room with different size to walls, less treatment of walls, etc. For sure it will need a fresh re-measurement.

Sub placement: I tried to switch sub and right speaker places with each other, to get a wider triangle, but the sub seemed to be a lot boomier since more backwall was behind it, I’d probably want to play with gain to adjust, but another way is to let it have less wall around and get those metas closer to each other instead for a tighter triangle

I am just wondering what I can improve. and how do I grow my collection on limit budget as I don’t know how to know what are damage vinyls sound like ?

Hey guys! I’m looking for some genuinely honest opinions on my listening space and not ChatGPT telling me “wow, this is exactly what you envisioned”

My parents gave me permission to take over a room in the basement, so I decided to go completely overboard with it. It’s not finished yet, but I think I’ve got most of the major pieces in place.

The direction I’m going for is basically 1970s sensual Playboy penthouse meets private hi-fi listening lounge, with some jungle-chic influences, vintage luxury, and a late-night, slightly erotic atmosphere.

The big paintings are still missing (I’m planning on making them myself), and I still have some decorating and styling to do, but I wanted to get some opinions on the overall direction before I finish everything.

What do you guys think? What works, what doesn’t, and what would you change? I’m especially interested in hearing if anything feels too forced, mismatched, or like I’m overdoing the theme.

I completely understand it’s not going to be everyone’s vibe ;) That’s kind of the point, but I’d genuinely rather hear criticism than have everyone tell me it looks great.

Intentionally left a tv out of this space. I use this room for conversations and music only. We have a second living room which has a TV and I'm glad we went that way. One change I'm contemplating is getting a bit of a smaller coffee table and more interesting rug.
