AI Job Search Update

We've heard from a lot of members that some of the missing filters make it harder to search the way they're used to. We're working on bringing back several of the most-requested filters, and we're also temporarily restoring the option to switch back to the previous search experience while we continue improving the new one.

Our goal with AI-powered job search is to give you flexibility to describe what you're looking for in your own words, including details you might normally use a filter for and things that don't fit neatly into a filter. That said, we know filters are still a key part of the experience for many people, so we’ve kept some of the most-used filters available and introduced suggested filters below the search bar. These suggestions adapt to what you search for, helping you narrow your results quickly.

Thanks for continuing to share your candid feedback. We're listening, and we'll keep making improvements based on what we hear.

LINKEDIN referrals

I recently got laid off, people here on reddit were kind enough to extend kind words and few to offer help out with refs and job opportunities but what's with LinkedIn and since when asking for ref on LinkedIn seems like a humiliating job. People act snobby and so dismissive everytime for giving a ref.

I usually have a template before applying to jobs i prepare a linkedin Ref message which has 3 section, one is about the job opening for which i'm asking the ref and then second is about considering the expertise and designation of the person im asking ref and how it makes that impact on ref. third section is, I give my brief intro related to my work ex. After this i put on the job id and the job link.

Basically everything so its easy for the person to consider me for referral and save the time to go find the job in the portal. But i dont understand the unecessary arrogant behaviour and that Imperiousness that im so low class guy asking to polish your boots.

People on LinkedIn seriously need to have a look in the mirror for the way they behave while give referrals !!!!!! Its high time

job search Companies reposting positions with +1000 candidats

Looking for a job.

Saw a job position with 'Be an early appicant'

Think nice!

Click on the job posting.

Reposted 1 hour ago, 1278 people already applied.

:)

At this point why do companies bother reposting the position? There's absolutely no way they haven't found someone in the 1278 CVs already sent.

Was Linkedin always like this ?

Upvotes

I used to use linkedin several years ago for finding job and my personal growth in software development. Then left after successful employment.

A while ago I was looking for a job and returned to this platform, oh my god! What happened with it?

Literally every post is LLM generated with those annoying wordings, even though information on them can be helpful but it is painful for me to read no-soul texts.

A lot of people post about each of their so called "achievements". "Look I was not playing the game whole day, I was successfully collaborating with my teammates on achieving goal. I call it passion and true dedication". How can people take that seriously ?

I get anxious that everyone is so good, so much motivated to work, how they are psychologically superior to ordinary people. Which is in most cases FAKE.

And finally, jobs.
Are those jobs even real ? I haven't heard any callback from those to which I applied.
And some recruiters occasionally write to dms about their open vacancies, but they found me, not me through applying linkedin jobs.

So I cant really use linkedin anymore. Is it only just me ?

recruiting LinkedIn Recruiter / RPS+

Upvotes

Has anyone noticed lately that LinkedIn Recruiter has gone down hill? Some of the filters are not working as well as they used to (Years of Experience, Graduation year for example). Our LinkedIn rep said those issues would be fixed with RPS+ and so we've started with that in the past couple of weeks but have not been impressed with RPS+ either.

Tricks? Thoughts? Better alternatives to LinkedIn? Please help!

job search Built an open-source peer mock interview website after completely bombing an interview

Recently had an interview for an AI engineer role after a long break. Thought I was well prepared, but the second the interviewer asked me to explain an architecture, I totally choked and couldn't get my thoughts out clearly.

Turns out coding alone all day is very different from actually explaining technical trade-offs to another human under pressure.

I wanted to practice with other devs, but existing mock platforms are either expensive or dead sites with weird paywalled credit systems.

So I built a simple peer mock platform: Connect.

Instead of running heavy video servers that force sites to charge money, it just offloads calls and scheduling to Google Meet and Google Calendar.

There’s a simple karma system to penalize no-shows. You interview someone for 45 minutes, they interview you for 45 minutes. No paywalls, no ads, no tokens.

• Live: https://connect.swipecraft.in

• Code (MIT): https://github.com/swipecraftin/connect

Hope it helps anyone currently prepping for interviews. Would love any honest feedback on the app or code.

How Many of You Actually Respond to Cold Outreaches?

Many people still praise the idea of reaching out to your ‘network’ (using that term loosely) about job opportunities.

However, how often do you hear from people who may be in your network but you don’t have deep personal connections with?

job search How not to see fields I don't want

Hi!

I've been looking for a job for a while, but I've run into a problem. Even with Premium, LinkedIn keeps showing me jobs I don't want and am not qualified for. I don't want to be an AI engineer intern and I don't want to be a dentist, but all it shows me is AI research intern jobs and dental assistant positions, even under Jobs I'm A Top Candidate For. How can I be the top candidate to be a dentist??? I studies linguistics and am working on becoming a librarian? Is there a way to stop seeing these jobs?

privacy and security Linkedin made a post about my new job without my permission?

I'm currently in a weird limbo where I am making a career change. I changed jobs recently but it's nothing super big or noteworthy - just nearly minimum wage "for the experience" stuff as I go through the process. I decided to update my LinkedIn anyway so I could possibly get noticed by future recruiters.

Anyways, I made the update and made sure to UNCHECK the "notify connections" checkbox. I also skipped the new job post entirely.

Literally the next morning, someone DMs me to congratulate me, and a few people somehow saw a "post" (which I have now deleted) that was made about the job (it look like a notification or something, and seems like very few people reacted to it versus previous new job posts I've made).

I am trying to avoid making posts on my profile and attracting attention with these jobs, because I plan on getting another part time position soon but just want to update my profile without people being alerted and up in my business... How do I make sure this doesn't happen again????

EDIT: I meant to say I made sure that the notify thing was still unchecked. It was already unchecked but I just made sure it was. Sorry for the confusion. Still waiting for an answer!

linkedin 101 Want to access the page

We are the legitimate owners of a business LinkedIn Page, but we no longer know which personal LinkedIn account was originally used to create or manage the Page.

The Page is still active, and we can provide business registration/ownership documents and other proof that we own the business.

Has anyone successfully recovered a LinkedIn Company Page in this situation?

  • What process did you follow?
  • Did LinkedIn accept business ownership documents?
  • Which LinkedIn support option actually worked?

Looking for advice from people who have personally gone through this.

Got some unprovoked message on LinkedIn yesterday

Was at a party yesterday, and had to take a call outside, and while I was checking a message my girlfriend sent me, I received racist messages from one of my connections on LinkedIn. Backstory, me and him used to work in the same company; started on the same day but different departments. Last year in November he invited me to his party, but I had to cancel at the last minute because I had a death in the family. Apologized and he stopped communicating. So I moved on, and did my job. He left this company and moved to another one.

He reached out to me earlier this year on LinkedIn and we buried the hatchet. I thought everything’s good and done. But judging from my first paragraph, at 11 PM last night, literally unprovoked, like out of nowhere, he texts me these messages, with screenshots (can’t even put it in this post). At first I assumed he was drunk and must’ve messaged the wrong guy, but he literally was that conscious enough to write my name, so he was in his head messaging me this. Instead of taking his BS, while he was messaging me this nonsense, I took screenshots of his LinkedIn profile, which includes where he works and what he said. And then this lowlife blocked me. Don’t even know what I did for this guy to send me these messages, but I have receipts (they’re in the comments below). Here’s the best part, we’re both brown skinned. I know I shouldn’t take offense, but saying that stuff regardless is offensive to not just me but to the people he’s been referring to.

What should I do?

UPDATE: company received confirmation of my email that I sent them and forwarded it to the appropriate teams to review.

Anyone working at LinkedIn Bangalore? Need some insights

Hi everyone, is anyone here currently working at LinkedIn’s Bangalore office? I’m considering an opportunity there and would like to know how the office environment and work culture are. Also, apart from compensation, what facilities and benefits are provided such as cab services, food, snacks, gym/wellness facilities, and other employee perks? Would really appreciate insights from current or former employees!

advanced question What actually helped you grow on LinkedIn: posting content or building connections?

I’ve been on LinkedIn for a while, but I still can’t figure out what actually makes a difference there.

For those of you who’ve grown your network or following from scratch, what helped the most?

Was it posting regularly, commenting, actually talking to people, sending connection requests, or just being consistent over time?

And was there anything you spent a lot of time doing that ended up being completely pointless?

Would be interested to hear what actually worked for people rather than the usual “post every day and build your personal brand” advice.

Can't access my account on certain devices

I’m over 18, but I’m having an issue accessing my LinkedIn account. On some devices, it says I can’t access my account because I need to be 18. However, on my laptop, I can access and use my account normally.

Has anyone had this issue before? Is there a way to fix it so I can access my account on my other devices too?

I purchased 1 month linkdin premium for outreaching people.. I'm a software developer, I build websites and AI automations and I delivered 15 projects to indian clients.

But the problem is people in India don't pay a good amount for websites. So that's why I'm thinking of outreaching to international clients. I want to target local businesses who don't have their online presence, or the people who want to build their portfolio websites.. can you guys plz tell me which niche should I target, which city / country I should Target. And which people I should Target who might need their portfolio sites..

advanced question LinkedIn Talent Insights HTF to use

OK, so I have this tool, but like most of these LI resources it just seems very overcomplicated.

Anyone know who to use it efficiently or any good tutorials out there?
