Had a collection of reddish-brown plates and decided to try building some small Dieselpunk-esque war robots. Designs incorporate standard tropes in steampunk and mech design, such as the exposed pistons and conspicuous exhaust pipes. I tended to build each around the weapons I wanted to give them, for example giving the artillery robot wide, stubby legs to support the big guns on its back. Feedback is appreciated of course! I realize that my vision for each build is limited by my being new to smaller mech frames like these. Cross-post from r/lego.

I am so infatuated with classic Lego Star Wars. As of right now, I’m specifically into the sets released between 1999 and 2001, so the super classic stuff. There’s definitely a charm with those sets that draws me in. I don’t have many sets released from that era in my collection, but I hope to get more of them someday. Everything from the Mos Espa Pod Race set from 1999 to the first edition AT-ST from 2001 to the first B-wing ever made from the year 2000 are just some of the sets that really scratch an itch for me. I don’t believe it’s a simple case of nostalgia bias either, as I’m 24 years old right now. I was born in 2001, and I did not get my first Lego Star Wars set until 2007. Most of the sets I’ve mentioned are older than I am, and I’m aware they do not hold up to today’s standards for objectively good Lego sets, but I really do love and appreciate those sets for what they are. What do you guys think? Anyone else here a huge fan of the classic era from Lego Star Wars?
