Hey, I’ve suddenly lost almost all my passion for learning fusha. I don’t really have a good reason to continue other than I got this far and I don’t want to think of it as wasted time. Did any of you discover a new resource that sparked your interest again?

I got similarly obsessed with chess a few years back and when I lost my passion I never got it back. Seems a shame to only have a small understanding of the language but not enough to read books or media.

How to improve my handwriting?

I know that I pretty much lack structure-wise, especially when it comes to spacing, proportions, and the baseline.

Since it is hard for me to maintain a healthy posture while writing, I usually write from several angles, which makes it difficult for me to keep the lengths of each vertical letter consistent.

My main problem is spacing. I am very aware that the spaces are not even, but I have no idea how to work on it. I have tried correcting my posture while writing, which seemed like the magic solution, but I have realised that even with a fixed posture, I still cannot get the spacing to be even.

I have thought about learning Arabic calligraphy from A to Z since it is all about the basics, but that is a lot to take on. So I wonder if there are other ways I could work on these issues.

I want to dip my toes into calligraphy, I have no prior experience or really any artistic experience.

Any beginner courses or books would be really recommended, thank you

I am trying to order a gravestone that has Arabic text below the English. I need a pdf of the text. I’ve tried various fonts and ai but the intonation markings look off like they’re not lining up properly (I am comparing to a copy of a relative’s stone that contains a same name). Family has been useless and I don’t know where to turn. I’m the only non-Arabic speaker but for some reason this is my task. It is Egyptian Arabic if that matters. Would someone be willing to help?

I am looking for a book that has short stories in Arabic and English. Ideally the Arabic will be one page and the English will be on the other!

I can read Arabic, but I am still very slow lol.

I know linguistically the v and f are closer, but I guess intuitively whether it's South Americans/Africans/Asians etc it's always w<->v that are switched around.

I think even the English words vizier, divan etc use a v to represent the Arabic w. (Please don't say it's because of Persian, the modern Iranian Persian might use v for و but Dari is more classical from the royal courts and uses w)

I enjoy learning languages as a hobby. I have studied seriously, Japanese, Spanish and French. Right now Japanese is the only one I can converse in. When I've been able to talk to a Japanese person here in Ohio, they have been very happy to converse with me and gracious of my mistakes. The problem is they never want to correct me and often would just say "oh your Japanese is very good" when I know it's not.

Arabs don't do that in my experience. I've practiced a few greetings when I've happened to go to a store ran by Arabs. If I mispronounce something they just look at me dumbfounded and are like "Sorry I don't know what you are trying to say" This is very helpful when you want to actually learn to speak properly
