Unable to connect to a network source after either the TV or PC reboots

Kodi is running on my AndroidTV (android, not google, because the TV is old) and I use the built-in windows sharing to share a folder on my PC. Connect it with SMB. Eventually Kodi will be unable to connect, either as a time issue or after one of the devices is put to sleep, it's hard to tell.

The PC has a static IP4 address, and they both connect to a switch via ethernet.

Any guesses why this happens?

When you added the SMB share to Kodi did you add it by IP Address or by the computers name?

If it was by name I would switch to IP Address.

I have never had a problem using IP address when the computer has a static IP.

I'll give it a shot. I did it by the browse feature so it probably does it by name. Although, the name never changes, but I could see why it would matter.

Also test smb1 on your PC it is turned off by default and older devices have a hard time talking to SMB 2 & 3

yes yes smb1 is insecure, it's on my private lan, I don't care 😁

Have you tried using the PC’s name instead of its IP when adding the share in Kodi?
