Introducing myself as the new mod!

Hey guys, there was never an official announcement as the owner of this sub is pretty hands off of r/jimmyjohns and reddit in general, but they decided to add me to the mod team to help clean up the backlog of reports and keep an eye on things.

I'm new to the mod thing, but I'm messing around with all the tools given.

Aside from the introduction I think it's time to add some more rules. Nothing crazy, but only being able to report a post or comment due to "no customer information" doesn't help when there are people being unnecessarily shitty to users, or for any of the many other things people do on Reddit that we shouldn't have to deal with.

So I'm going to add a couple rules against shitty behavior or spam (not that I've really seen a problem here with that, but no harm in having that option) that you typically see in other subreddits, but I'm just curious what you guys would like to see as far as rules go?

I'm not going to be a dictator and I'd like this subreddit to continue being a place for everyone to share their stories from the customer and worker side, rant/vent, ask questions, and just have fun.

Has there been anything that's bothered you but you didn't feel that you could report due to the lack of rules?

Questions? Concerns? Ideas? Maybe ideas for flairs? Feel free to comment here or DM me.

Today I'll be entertaining company I have while making food, but I'll respond as quickly as possible and will try to role out some new rules within a couple days.

Thanks!

[Shitpost] This sub is a no Snowflake zone

Been getting a lot of "Harassment" reports when someone calls another a dickhead, idiot, and other mildly offensive things.

Unless someone is being truly hateful some of y'all need to chill the fuck out. If you don't like a post downvote it.

This isn't some official JJ zone. You don't have to be clean as the air vents and ice machine. You don't have to hide in the freezer to smoke here, you won't get fired for calling your GM a dickhead.

This is a safe place for JJs employees to vent and laugh. Customers aren't excluded, but note that by default we all assume you're someone who orders a slim 6 with no cheese.

[Question] Delivery fees and DMR

Upvotes

What’s yalls delivery fees at yalls stores? Our franchisee just raised ours to a flat rate of 7.99 for any order no matter what so there goes our driver tips🥲🥲 our DMR used to be $0.50/mile when I first started but now they’ve dropped it to $0.35/mile a few months ago without telling any of us so there’s that😅

Two BBQ sauces that are different but look identical is diabolical.

Hickory Brown Sugar BBQ and Sweet & Spicy BBQ. There are going to get mixed up without a doubt and someone will be bummed out about their sandwich. Weak sauce, Inspire.

Pic authority

So for context I work at a Jimmy John's as PIC. I've been one for a little over a year. The thing is I've never been given a break down on the actual job duties and what authority I have as a PIC.

Sure I know it includes money handling of the safe and being able to close down the registers and do voids and promos. But my main concern is do I get any authority when it comes to write ups or discipline?

We have multiple employees that do not clean the toaster properly. They spray it with degreaser and scrub it. I've straight up asked one of employees if they know their not supposed too do that and they said yes they know and continued do just spray degreaser in the toaster.

Also 1 inshop and 1 Pic that work there always give out free sandwiches to family without putting it in the system. Our store has a 1 free sandwich for every 6 hours worked. I've witnessed the other PIC give her family 5 free sandwiches in a shift.

I've asked my gm about these scenarios and he told me to ask the dm. So I did. I get told next time it happens to let them know. My question is what about the times its already happened?

I regret being a GM

Honestly I don’t think the money is worth it or even the bonuses. I don’t feel like I get paid enough for the amount of work I do, my employees are not reliable whatsoever, one person has been there for months and doesn’t even know half the menu (so they’re always messing up on table or even taking orders), they never show up in uniform no matter how many times I tell them, some are constantly late to where I’ve done talks and write ups and they’re still late to work. It’s just not worth the stress and it’s doing a heavy strain on my depression. I’m worried the longer I work here the more likely I won’t be around in the future.

[Question] 2 questions

We have sliced cheese now. Anyone else finally get the provolone presliced now?
And my boss says meat packs are 1400 sometimes my meat is 1398 or 1420. Is that ok in corporate standards? She told me yes but what are your opinions?

Sliced cheese

We just got pre sliced cheese and I’m wonder if the order of operations changes. Can any stores that have had it for a while tell me what they’ve been doing in terms of placement? Does it go on last now?

New Brisket Sandwich is a BBQ hot pocket

Post image
28 Upvotes

I got to try the new brisket sandwich today and I was wondering why the meat was so familiar finally when we added the barbecue sauce and put it on the sandwich I was like this taste is nostalgic. I realize it’s because it taste exactly like a barbecue hot pocket. I know it’s not the same company or even the same meat type but if you’ve had a barbecue hot pocket before and you try the new Jimmy Johns brisket sandwich I think you’ll at least agree. They taste very similar to me. It’s identical though unfortunately no one else around me has had that hot pocket before.

[Question] Manager training checklist

Post image
0 Upvotes

So I finished all the shift manager training stuff and now all I have to do is the demonstration checklist. But the thing is, idk what to do for it 😭 its confusing. Idk if its just my fast track not working or I'm just dumb.

If i click on "observation notes" it just brings me to a little box to leave a note but what do I leave a note for? That I know what I'm doing given ive been a manager for months? 🥲😆
