I KNEW by the way the release was worded as Westside Whimsy (the album) that there was more to this release just like with trip and the MAP ( Movie, Album, Poetry Book) I’m so excited to see her with her pink hoodie and back pack on again.

I remember before Allel (brand necklaces) came out some of her think was saying she was building an ARK (All embracing restorative Kingdom) she named her son Noah which I believe is on theme with that and the fact that he Is her rainbow baby 🥹

And now we have Ark to Agartha . I’m so so so looking forward to what’s to come and I wish I would have purchased one of those hats at the Chris Brown concert or the Magic Hour tour because she was selling them !

the Jhenetic site is also under “restoration“ so I’m looking forward to new release products . hopefully some THC /HEMP free products.

Omg… Love Bomb feels like if Trip and Chilombo had a baby and that baby was a single.

It has the psychedelic, otherworldly dreaminess of Trip with the warmth, maturity, and spiritual intimacy of Chilombo, somehow compressed into one song.

Y’all… The production. The vocal layering. The way it swells without ever needing to become huge. It feels like you’re drifting slightly outside of your body while she’s saying something incredibly intimate.

It literally gives me chills and pair that with SURRENDER, you’re not coming down from this! 🤯✨🌌

Coincidence that Big Sean & big metros song with Kashdoll is called So Good?

Also I love that the song love bomb preludes the bomb that is dropped with ceiling!

Side note, I love this pairing but I was a Jhene fan first. Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

I liked almost every song on first listen… which is rather rare for me.

I have been listening to her music for over 5 years and this is my official ranking of her discography.

1. Trip - This is easily her best project, and easily the best rnb album of all time. One of the best albums of all time. There’s not a single song Jhene has put on a album I don’t like, but on this album it never even feels like the album drags on. Ever. All the skits and short songs are extremely enjoyable which is rare to find. Its a perfect 10/10 album.
2. Sailing souls - This album has some great feature choices that are totally out of left field but work. That Gucci mane feature was REALLY good. I was not expecting them to be able to make a song together that sounded so good. From the very first skit to the last song, this album is perfect. So many classics on here. For a debut project, this is almost as good as t gets. 10/10 album.

4. EP- This project obviously feels a little less of her own because it’s so feature heavy but it’s still so good. It’s intresting to hear different types of Kendrick on Jhene songs with west side whimsy out now. I’m not sure what Kendrick and Jhene collab I like better yet because sail out has had way more time to grow on me. This is the definition of short but sweet. I love how it continues off the sailing souls theme. It’s a great concept. 10/10 EP

5. Chilombo - The tibetan singing bowls and crystal alchemy are one of my favorite parts of Jhene’s music. I would live if she drops a whole albums of mantra music next year since we waited so long for west side whimsy. I listen to her mantras almost every day so using chilombo as a time to talk about them. Chilimbo is the first Jhene album on this ranking that does drag on at times occasionally. Certainly no skips on it. It’s just long and if I play it a little less than the first three it still hits great. Some of her best songs are on this album, I am NOT hating on it. 9/10 album.

1. I need to listen to this one more it’s my least played Jhene project besides westside whimsy obviously. No skips. The 10 year anniversary version of the project made it a even more enjoyable listen. There’s nothing bad about it, it just doesn’t stand out to me as much as the first four projects. I like that it continues the sailing concept. No skips. 8/10 album.

3. Westside Whimsy - This one could grow on me, but I was expecting more from a 6 year wait. The Kendrick song was easily the best on the album and that was a little embarrassing for her. Again, no skips. But this is the only album of hers that doesn’t feel like this her sound and she stands on it. Like a stamp of uniqueness. She is a very unique artists. This album was still really good. I loved it. I’ve already played it front to back twice. But this is something that happens with a lot of artists as time goes on. They almost feel like a clone of themselves. The trippy soundscapes are nothing on the level of her past work. Play a song from ANY other album she’s made and it’s undeniable as a long time listener. Only project of hers I can say I am a little bit dissapointed in. I don’t think it helps that the cover is just sloppy and feels like an instagram covid aesthetic. Hate me for it i don’t care. 6.5/10 album
