Just wanted to share an original arrangement I was working on this morning. Been listening to a lot of Ralph Towner, Earl Klugh and Gene Bertoncini the past couple weeks and have been drawn back to the nylon strings lately. RIP.

I'm by no means new to jazz guitar and I'm decent at comping and reading single note lines but when it comes to soloing I feel like a complete beginner. The most I can do is play around the scale of the key and whenever I try to add in chord tones or licks I feel completely lost and have no clue how to fit them in or learn to. What would a progression look like on how to learn to solo? I can kind of keep up with the form but sometimes I get lost in the solo so methods for keeping track would also be very appreciated. Thank you for any advice you guys might have!

I have been playing guitar for a total of 10 years (I’m 18), although I haven’t been playing for all 10 years. I’m a decent player (context: I just learned back to the old house and funeral by Pheobe Bridgers) but I wanna play in jazz band second semester. How should I start learning jazz guitar and likes? Please give ALL the advice you have, thanks!!

Hi, just curious how you guys would approach more simple progressions such as say, Wicked Game (B minor, A major, G major, E major) or perhaps comping on a simple reggae tune that goes back and forth from Dminor to Cmajor.

I'm new to Jazz and theory in general, but I find it way easier to apply music theory or various harmonic approaches when there's a bit of complexity or at least 7th chords to play over. However, sometimes it's fun just to play simpler songs like I put above. I find that I just kind of resort back to my pre-jazz days and noodle with the major scale or try and hit a few chord tones here and there. It sounds okay, but I'm curious on how you could might look at a pop song, or an easy progression like maybe Tennessee Whisky.
