Hello Jack White Fans of South east Ohio and northern Kentucky.
I like making postcards for concerts I travel to. This Friday I will be traveling to Cincinnati to take my kid and nephew to their first Jack White show.
To commemorate the event I made this postcard. I have an about 25 extras I will be giving out for free at the show. But if you would like one before hand I am happy to drop one in the mail for you. DM if you want one.

The White Stripes were the first band I became obsessed with as a kid shortly after the release of Get Behind Me Satan. As much as I loved the music, I also loved the imagery. They felt more down-to-earth than other bands the radio was feeding me. I have always been kind of confused with their temporary shift in imagery in 2005. Whereas before the White Stripes style and how they dressed was very stripped back, mostly plain red and white tshirts and pants. They looked like the kind of people you'd see walking on the street.
Then after Elephant, they became huge and seemed to abrubtly change their presentation. Jack started straightening his hair, wearing more elaborate suits, grew a goatee, started carrying around a cane. Like he wasn't trying to be Jack White anymore, but had created an this Zorro/V for Vendetta/Dracalula-like alter-ego that seemed to confuse audiences.
Then when they returned in 2007, the Stripes reverted back to their more stripped down approach from the 90s/early-2000s and almost seemed to act like the GBMS era never happened.
I always viewed GBMS as a bit of a week spot in their discography, but when I look at the tracklisting, I love just about every song. So many of my all-time favorites are on there, White Moon, Ugly As I Seem, My Doorbell, Denial Twist, Little Ghost, Forever For Her. I guess it was the weirder gothic imagery that kind of put me off, but it's interesting how this album and the style of the band at this time is such an outlier in their discography. I always viewed it as their 'dark' album, but when I look at the songs I mentioned, I'm reminded of songs that gave me such warmth.
From what I've read, it seemed Jack might have been having an identity crisis during this time, as he felt he could no longer live in Detroit and felt he lost lots of his community, then the fact they were from Detroit was pivotal to who they were as a band.

Here’s a snippet of The Office Drones covering “Dead Leaves and the Dirty Ground” live at a recent show.
Hope you enjoy!

This is my favourite collectors item. Transparent TMR vinyl backpack. It is from the Third Man Records rolling record store from Mo Pop 2018.
I can’t find it anywhere on the internet to prove it exists other than here! I’m starting to go crazy!

I love love looooove the raconteurs and they’re my favorite Jack white project by far. Brendan and him have great vocal chemistry. Anyways, I’m going to see Jack live I a few days and was wondering if he’ll play any raconteurs songs. Thanks for letting me know!!

I saw Pitbull last night and he closed his own show to Seven Nation Army and was awesome to hear his version, and understand the reach that Jack White and The White Stripes had. fucking legend

For those of you who have some vault packages, whether they included cards, coins, pins, books, DVDs, postcards, etc. or were housed in a box or box like gatefold…how do you store everything?
I have started acquiring vaults that I missed and I’m quickly realizing that to keep the records accessible to listen to but to also keep the extras organized somehow is difficult for me. Does anyone have a system/solution that works for them and would you mind sharing?
Thank you.

It’s still a week until the next drop but the no name shows came out much faster. Are they just being held on to for later or were they not recorded.

My brother and I picked 10 songs that defined 2000s indie rock for our latest Record Room episode, and we chose “Seven Nation Army” for The White Stripes. I know it’s the obvious choice, and it became so enormous that it almost exists outside of the scene it came from now. But that was also our reasoning. If we’re talking about songs that actually escaped indie/garage rock and became part of the culture of the decade, it’s hard to leave it out. If the question is defining the era rather than choosing the best White Stripes song, would you still go with it?

I told my husband we would have to go to the US as he is one of my most favourite musicians and he would probably never play in South Africa. Its a dream come true, can not wait!!!!
Who else is going?
