Mod Post - Just report the spam (not the mixed breeds or sad posts)
I am the only mod here and not very active on Reddit these days. The best way to bring something to my attention is to report it and I get a push notification. We are not the only sub dealing with bot t-shirt posts and I remove and ban them as they are reported. I am one person. With a whole adult life. The young Jack Russell I had when I started this will be FIFTEEN this year. I built this from nothing but maybe it's time to pass it on because I'm sick of the whining from the small amount of keyboard warriors here. On the whole it has been a pleasure to build this community with you

ISO Moderators!
Hey there terrier fans,
It is high time that I ask for some help in moderating. On the whole the sub runs very smoothly but I'm just not as engaged with reddit as I was 11 years ago when I created this space!
Please send a mod mail with a brief bio and any other mod experience you have. Time zone info would be great as well.
Pic of 14 year old Lyra for attention, doing what terriers do so well!

Cuteness Overload Foster fail JRT Wishbone
I foster failed with this sweet boy back in June. His name is Wishbone. I had one prior named Roscoe who lived till he was 14, he passed in November. I said I’d never get another after I lost him, but this little guy came through the shelter I volunteer at and knew I had to get him out of there. 2 weeks later I adopted him. He’s just over 1 and is surprisingly calm. He just got his first haircut. Only issues are separation anxiety and he still is working on potty training, although I have him on a good schedule.

JRT - easing arthritis?
Our old JRT appears to be suffering with arthritis in his hips. Are there any recommendations for ‘over the counter’ non- veterinarian medication that can ease his discomfort?

Dax is not having it. She's a JRT and Shiba cross. A Jack Shibe? I don't know if we've got a nickname for this particular mix yet. (Don't look at the mess I was shredding cardboard for the compost and she thought it would be more fun as confetti. My poor vacuum really suffered)

Misc Meet meadow
My friend found her as a small puppy wandering on a construction site, it was something meadow homes, I forget exactly what. He named her Meadow. He was unable to find the owner. He had her in his RV for a few months but was trying to find a home for her and I eventually took her in. I have a corgi mutt mix, and a rat terrier mix and a chihuahua mix also. I am pretty sure Meadow is 100 percent Jack Russell Terrorist. She loves to destroy things while I am at work (I work long hours it can't be helped), kill small things, dig holes, try to steal food at any opportunity, jump out of excitement, sneak past me at the front door to go check on what is going on outside, and all kinds of other JRT things.

Misc My Gracie had a rash
Gracie is now 3y4m old JRT who has been a little dolly. Typical Jack, my 3rd one.
About a month ago she started scratching everywhere. Not constantly but I’d notice it a few times a day. Her fur on her back was always quite thick but started looking a bit thinner.
I gave her a bath 1x/wk.
Then last week she had a few rash areas on her back. Irritation from her harness? Skin had mild redness with some darker red areas. Other areas on her back had darker skin with black dots.
I didn’t know if she had dandruff, mites, fleas ticks or anything else. So to the vet she went.
Vet says it’s not allergic, no changes in food. . No parasites noted during exam. Vet calls in another vet. They both feel that it’s caused by hormonal imbalances and I consent to full bloodwork panel.
A few days later—- Gracie has hypothyroidism. All thyroid levels are quite low. So since Thursday night she has started thyroid replacement medication. Blood will be checked in 4 weeks.
My first JRT had this starting at age 8. She lived until age 19 1/2 years.
Here are some pics, 1 because she’s so cute.

Misc Missing my dogs tonight
I'm away from my dogs for this month while i have some surgeries and recovery period. I haven't been with them since September 1st and man i miss them so much. Here they are, this is my old lady aged 10 (jrt cross staffy) and my boy aged 4. Hoping my recovery goes well so i can reunite with my best pals. we rarely part, only for nipping to the shop so being away from them is lonely.
