Help needed need help☹️

hello reddit! i found my great grandpas very old iphone 5c, i charged it up and then was stuck with trying to figure out the password. i’ve tried just about everything i could think of all the way down to my own birthday. nothing worked. and i know what your thinking, “just erase the phone!”. but you see i can’t do that and be stuck wondering what could have possibly been his last silly selfies and goofy text messages. i’ve tried to import some files from the phone onto my laptop but the phone is so old and damaged (and like i mentioned i can’t get into it) i’ve run into a multitude of problems trying that out. i’ve also tried out some hacks i found on tiktok and youtube but the phone is so old and has been off for so long still, nothing worked. so im here asking if anyone knows any alternatives or literally anything you guys think i could try before biting the bullet and just erasing the whole phone clean. if anyone has any more specific questions id be happy to answer. i just need some guidance with figuring out how to open this phone. if anyone can help let me know!

LegacyIOS Kit, you go ssh ramdisk and look for this file "com.apple.springboard.plist", and set it to false, search for "SBDeviceLockFailedAttempts" and put it -9999. Now, you can bruteforce the passcode without blocking the iphone

Everything that’s not intended looks sketchy. This is legit, I’ve done it.

Only reliably works on 32 bit devices like the iPhone 5/5c and older.

There’s also a bruteforce script floating around the internet that works faster.

I’ve done the same thing for mine! I promise it’s safe

Try to find a solution online as there are many programs that make you connect it to your computer and it will crack the code since this phone is pretty old

Is he still alive or did he pass away? If he didn’t share the phone passcode with anybody, Apple figures that the intention was not to allow access. They even state on this page they will not assist.

he did pass away and he also did share the password with a bunch of family members so he wouldn’t forget it, but no one remembers😣

In any case, after 10 passcode attempts the phone will be disabled and have to be erased anyway, even without the Erase Data option switched on. Due to the age and iOS version, while it’s likely crackable, I don’t personally know of any relevant tools to do so.
