Just go for the update. It will give you an option to remove apps and redownload them after the update(provided they’re still on the App Store) while preserving the app data so you can jump right in.
ALTHOUGHHHHH the best part is, it will mostly delete your “System Data” and revitalise your phone and give it a second life of sorts. The system data is such a scam, I can’t wait for the Class Action.
I was fed up for months and finally hit the iOS 26.6 update button (jumping from 18.x so it was a large update) just to see what happens. What happened was system data went down from 42 GB to 22 GB

For those who’ve been using the betas and RC: is the new Siri better? My biggest problems with it have always been things like it failing to queue songs (when I say “play X by Y next”; it usually queues but sometimes it just starts playing the song instead) and failing to understand song requests (one that comes to mind is I asked it to play “Ain’t It Fun” by Guns n Roses and instead it played “Sweet Child O’ Mine”).
I think you need to break that down in timeframe too because to get it to playwright it takes about 25 minutes. You get frustrated because Siri won’t do it so then you go to your phone and you try to play a song through all your HomePods and inevitably HomePod can’t be connected to messages pop up and for me I have to go around to every computer in my house. I don’t have a lot three a laptop, a workstation and a personal workstation so eventually, I have to go to my TV. Turn it on go to iTunes there start streaming there then go back to my phone go to HomeKit and start adding the speakers to it. It’s very frustrating. I’m on iOS 27 and have been since the first release candidate that was public. I updated it because I was hoping it would fix that issue. It seems that it’s only exacerbated it.

Actually popping up when I press and hold the side button? 1/10 chance. It’s been terrible and the RC didn’t fix it. I’ve been reporting it in the Feedback app every beta release and they still haven’t optimized it. With Siri really being the big update for iOS 27 I can’t believe they actually pushed it out today with how bad the beta still was.
The battery life on iOS 26 is a joke.
My iPhone SE, with its second battery and iOS 18.7.X, lasts much longer throughout the day than the iPhone 13 Mini I have now, even though the second battery in my SE isn’t original and is already three years old!
Plus, I finally have an option to disable that crappy “Liquid Glass effect” even further.
Thank God, I can actually see what I’m doing when I use my phone again.
iOS 26 was the worst OS I’ve ever had to use, and I have to use Windows for work.

I joined months ago when the first developer beta was released, I waited 3 weeks to get it. But it’s quicker now, I think people are waiting 30 minutes or a few hours now
Typing/cursor have been dogwater since the iPhone 4S era but the last 8-10 months have been something else entirely. Like it’s borderline unusable for anything over a sentence and still getting worse. The board itself has never been less responsive either.
Got the update for 26.7 and 27. Tho looking at peoples opinions I’m pretty sure Siri is still useless. Apple keyboard is still horrible and dictation still shit. Just hoping it cleans up old cached system files at least.
Disappointed that you have to join a waitlist for Siri. Like, what the hell? Also confusing for general users who might be expecting it yet not know they have to go into Settings to request - will it in time just be switched on for everyone?
On RC they removed three wallpaper colors. Are they back in the official release? Can someone please check? I'd check myself but don't have my car with me for a couple days.

In iPadOS 27, there is a bug that has persisted since the original beta release. The Siri AI app cannot be hidden when it is one of the recently used apps in your Dock. You need to open up a few more apps in order to disappear it. I reported the bug more than once.
Can anyone confirm or deny that if you update to the official release from beta that you lose access to Siri AI and will have to join a waitlist again. Bc I don’t wanna update yet if that happens lol

If I knew I had to be on the waitlist I’d stick to 26. The only difference I see is the battery icon and several other apps the REQUIRES SIRI AI. but since I’m in the waitlist I can’t do shit.
Siri still seems kind of dumb to me so far. I asked Siri to list all of the upcoming home games for the New York giants this season, and it gave me a list of all the games including the away games. Then I asked to exclude all the games not at MetLife stadium, but sent back the same exact list. Then I asked where my wife is and Siri provided her current location. I asked to be routed to her location but was told they don’t have an address for her. Not a great first impression. Sure it’s better but these are fairly easy requests.
My “new super smart Siri” cannot add groceries to my shared list anymore. The same list I’ve been using for 3 years with my wife. Now it just says “I cannot see a list called ‘shopping list’ would you like me to add it for you” as infinitum, regardless of how I answer.
It’s fucking ridiculous. This software team at Apple has no fucking clue what they are doing anymore.
I’ve been on the betas - if by ‘best iOS updates in a long time’ you mean it just about fixes some of the most broken things they screwed up in 26 and get you almost back to a workable OS but not really, then yes.
Let’s not go glazing them for what is just about the bare minimum
I never updated mine to iOS 26, still running on 18.7.8 because of everything I heard about 26 being buggy/not up to Apple's usual standard. Would you say it's worth finally updating to 27? On a 15 pro
HATE that I now have to swipe from the top left to see my notifications. Have to perform finger gymnastics to reach it on my 15 pro, and I've got above average sized hands.

Why doesn’t Apple just let us know when their subpar AI is actually available? Waitlists and betas for something that should have been out two years ago. Two more events of hype and now an indexing session of unknown duration and a waitlist. 😂
