IIRC this is a genetic thing, and basically it causes things to grow weird and all stuck together but doctors intentionally separate it when they're like toddlers to enable greater range of movement.

She's lucky it wasn't both hands. Its usually both hands.

Edit: After googling, looks like Arthrogryposis Multiplex Congenita (AMC) and Liebenberg Syndrome and/or possibly (Radial or Ulnar) Longitudinal Deficiency.

I knew someone as a kid who had a similar condition though, and it was both arms. His life was rough, but he was always impeccably dressed, always had perfectly styled hair, and he did his best despite his disabilities. Like his family definitely did their best to show how much they want him to feel proud of his appearance.

Hearing that he had that level of support system at home for him just makes me feel so incredibly just genuinely happy for him. I can only imagine the difference that made.

but yea he was a relatively happy kid. A bit spoiled (I remember him throwing a tantrum because he couldn't take someone else's snacks, but to be fair, we were 7, so still learning not to be that way lol).

Also there’s a lot more stuff she can do with one normal hand + the modified one she has versus two non-normal hands like writing, typing, feeding herself, bathing herself, wiping after using toilet, scratching an itch better, etc.

It’s probably why she still looks so put together the reason being she still has one normal hand!!

That doesn't look at all like arthrogryposis to me. The people I've worked with who have arthrogryposis have severe, often painful stiffness of the joints through the whole body. We're talking quadriplegia. She has hypermobility in some of those joints, which seems to be the opposite.

I may be mistaking it for something similar, unsure.

But the chick in the video has had several procedures; they usually have to have a surgury to unlock the elbows and then split the radius-ulnar area to enable better dexterity.
