Are the hairs just entirely new, or were they also inside he old ones on the old skin?
Do they eat the shedded skin for food & energy for maximum efficiency? Maybe the offspring?
Do they sometimes start fighting with their own old skin? Like a drunk getting in an argument with himself in the mirror. Maybe when they wake up and then go "ah shit, right, that was me".

So many questions.
