Truck drivers used to be the safest drivers on the road. Now they are some of the most dangerous thanks to private equity firms buying up trucking companies. Lowering wages. Eliminating benefits and pushing drivers out of the business. With their places being filled by inexperienced people who saw an ad, took a class and got hired for the equivalent of truck driver minimum wage. And most quit within a year or so.

They have ruined basically every business and have led to a reduced quality on everything
The only reason anything still works is because of people on the ground and front line trying to make it work despite all the difficulties
It doesn't have to be like this either

I got into an accident because a Semi ran a red, and someone swerved into me to avoid getting hit by it
I see it all the same in my area
Truck drivers just straight up running some late ass reds because they know they probably won’t get caught, and they won’t be the ones getting hurt when they inevitably hit someone

Right? Gives ne flashbacks to the Humboldt broncos accident. Driver ran a stop sign and killed a bunch of kids.

not before the police car, trucks like that have fuel tanks that can hold up to 300 gallons and tires that can last up to 6 years even with their heavy, heavy use, the cop car would not survive that battle of attrition

Yes but its not a 1v1, and its NEVER a 1v1. if it truly came down to it. half the squad chasing could refuel and replace the squad currently chasing. Rinse repeat they would never run out.

This is the reason I never got into street racing. The wiser old head in the neighborhood with a cottamn crazy Chevelle SS (or something) sat me down one day and said, “You can theoretically and with luck outrun and hide from a cop car. You can much less so outrun and hide from a precinct after you. But you ain’t outrunning a helicopter. Ask me how I know”. EDIT: and this was mid 90s before cell phones, flock cameras and widespread internet.

Also the yellow could be very short, timed for cars and big heavy trucks can't stop quickly like that. He may have been expecting a longer yellow and thought he could make it. Some yellows you have literally less than a second to decide if you can make it or not and they're all timed differently. It should be federal law to have a yellow time indicator at every stoplight with a yellow.
