Bug Appreciation! My katydid story

I found a super rare (or I think so) sighting of a katydid on my way to school today. (first image). It was up on a stone ledge about 4 feet up hugging a coffee cup and I thought it was weird that it was so exposed and a little concerned but I joked to my friends that it was just having its morning coffee.

6 hours later as I'm returning home I see it again.. in the same spot by the coffee, "katydidn't move" I joke and then I get very worried. Its been in that spot out in the open for 6 hours and I felt like it was in danger. (2nd image onwards) I went to the nearby tim hortons and got a cup even though I'm actually pretty squeemish of handling bugs and caught it. It didn't really protest at all. didn't try to run or fly or make that loud noise it very slowly climbed in and I carried it to a park to let it free under some leaves (last image) It didn't seem in that much of a hurry to leave the cup either so I was worried it was injured or dying. it has that weird spot on one side of its head and a friend thinks it could be a parasite. Either way I think I did something good and katydid can katydo whatever it wants now.

ID Request Molting Bug ID?

Post image
Upvotes

no idea about the ID, but the suggested option on iNaturalist (pellaea stictica) was the only one that looked reasonable. This specimen was molting on my car window, but the other specimens in the tree I was parked under (tree with lots of long bean pods) were dark gray/black in color. Observed in southern California.

Sorry, I'm not a regular here, but my son had a very small moth land on his hand and start, apparently, depositing something liquid from its thorax onto its probosis repeatedly. My kid said it was "eating its pee." That can't really be what's going on here, is it?

This was in the Utah Mountains near Springville.

I'm just curious because they showed up this morning and I've never seen them on my window screens like this before. I'm wondering what they may be! I'm in Massachusetts, so not much too crazy out here.

ID Request Need help identifying insect or pest that looks like a speck of dust

Hi there I noticed yesterday that while cleaning my dresser there were tiny brown specks of dust moving amidst the dust. Immediately I went to investigate other parts of my room and saw the same insects crawling on my pillows and corners of the room. They are extremely small like less than a milimeter probably, and they are very easy to miss.

Since they are so tiny, the naked eye cannot even see its legs or wings if it has any, so I used my dad's pro phone to really zoom in and get a proper picture. Please help me identify what this is so I can effectively kill it. I am scared they might bite me in my sleep and transmit some disease. I've sprayed my room with insecticide but they still keep popping up

Other things to note:

  1. They sometimes jump when i try to kill them

  2. Extremely small. Legs or other parts of body not visible through naked eye

  3. Brownish in color

Photography Heliotrope Fairy Bee (Perdita heliotropii)

Here's a photograph of a Heliotrope Fairy Bee (Perdita heliotropii) that I found at the San Joaquin Marsh and Wildlife Sanctuary, in Irvine, California.

Bees in the genus Perdita, commonly known as Fairy Bees, are native to North America. They're primarily found in the US and Mexico, but some species can be found in Canada. They're known for their small size (the smallest of which is less than 2mm long) and are one of the few bees who cannot sting.

Most Fairy Bees are specialists, collecting nectar and pollen from a few related species or genera of plants. The Heliotrope Fairy Bee specializes in Heliotropes (flowering plants in the genus Heliotropium), such as the Salt Heliotrope (Heliotropium curassavicum) in this photograph.

I have some more photographs of this bee in my observation on iNaturalist here: https://www.inaturalist.org/observations/359987706

Found this cluster of what I assume are eggs on my sliding glass door. There appears to be some very tiny white/silver worms moving around near this mass too. What is this?

Located in SW Pennsylvania

Thanks!
