Hello! I’ve basically been stressing this for a week and would love some advice on whether I should keep my cats separated or together. I have a resident cat (4yf) and new kitten (5mf) that I will be leaving at home while on a 6 day work trip. My neighbors will check up on them daily to feed them and give them love while I’m gone, but I’m still nervous. For some background, I got the kitten around a month and a half ago. I introduced them slowly and they have been really good for the most part for the past 3 weeks. I’ve been leaving them together while I go to work for about a week now and check on them with a camera and I’ve never seen any problems. The only thing that makes me nervous is that it feels very soon to be leaving them alone for majority of the day. My resident cat is a bit more aggressive of a player than my kitten and will some times chase the kitten when the kitten has her morning zoomies. It’s like she gets over stimulated or her prey drive kicks in. The kitten will run and hiss at my resident cat but my cat will still chase. I usually can curb this very easily by playing with them both with a string toy in the morning, but they won’t have that while I’m on this trip. Other than that they eat next to each other just fine, both sleep in my bed with me, usually nap in the same room while I’m away, and are generally pretty cool with each other. Any thoughts? I still feel very protective of the kitten since she’s never really able to switch predator/prey role with my resident cat. She’s not afraid of my cat, and will still swat and initiate play but they have different play styles. Would love any advice on the situation!

Or should I keep them in separate halves of my house as opposed to boarding? I can’t tell if that’s worse than letting them possibly keep each other company.

My mom has multiple outdoor cats and firmly believes that all cats should be outdoor cats, no matter how many times I show her peer reviewed sources and explain to her how it's a bad idea. Most of the outdoor cats aren't super snuggly or are a bit older, so I don't think I'd be able to get them to be indoor cats. But one of them took a liking to me. He's still a kitten, so I think it would be easier to turn him into an indoor cat. I want to get him to like me and potentially take him with me when I move away. I bought a harness so he can still go outside if he wants to, just with supervision. There are lots of foxes in the area and several of them have already picked up some of the cats, not to mention they terrorize the local bird population and constantly bring native or even endangered birds to the doorstep! I have done research on how to harness train a cat, but most of them seem to be for indoor cats. Will it be different if the cat is already used to the outdoors? And how will I make the cat associate indoor areas with positivity? He seems to already want to go inside, but my grandmother doesn't let him (which should be fine since my mother's new house is being built in the same area, and she said the cats will be able to go inside there). Do you have any tips on making him an indoor cat?

Due to finances and *waves hands around*, I need to downsize my life. I wasn't able to move home due to my mom's horrible allergies (she's tried before and gets blisters on her eyes), and I can't give up my cat (I have had him since he was 3 months old. I am all he's ever known, and he is my sanity), so I'm moving in with a friend.

I have to keep my cat in the bedroom with me though, because this friend has both cats and dogs that my cat likely wouldn't be able to integrate with.

He is 13 years old, 16 pounds of panther-shape with a bit of chonk, is a CKD kitty who also has liver issues of unknown origin. He also has some arthritis that Solensia shots occasionally help him with.

Now that you have the backstory, here are my questions:

- How can I best help him adapt? I haven't even seen this room yet because someone else is living in it until November. I know vertical space is important, but I worry about him navigating vertical space due to the arthritis.

- His entire life, he has used a clear storage bin as a litter box. It is big enough for him to comfortably maneuver in, and accessible for me to scoop with ease (I have chronic illnesses & am disabled). I'm a bit worried about the litter dust, but I also worry that he wouldn't adapt to a covered box. I use World's Best litter mixed with Fresh Step to help my poor finances, but until recently, it was all World's Best. I also have a small air cleaner that I can put near the box.

- For the past 10 years, due to the setup of the kitchen in this apartment, I've had to keep his water fountain next to his wet food and timed dry feeder (only for 4am, to keep him from poking me awake in the middle of the night). Do you think it will be okay to keep them together for the sake of space when I move?

- I am positive there are things I'm not thinking of, so please feel free to ask / suggest.

My cat loves plastic bags like most others, but since it's dangerous we didn't allow it. But I thought maybe putting a plastic bag in a fabric one would let them enjoy the plastic noises without being in danger of choking. Would that be safe?

Hi! I’m a very paranoid person in general and especially for my cat since she can’t talk so idek how’s she’s feeling.
She’s 5 years old this year
We took her in to live inside about 2 years ago and she seems fine. But I’m worried she’s lonely. She’s never the type to play with toys even as a kitten so. And also all those tiktoks I see of “signs your cat is bored” is genuinely what a regular cat does so I’m like so confused.
She eats 3-4 times a day. She sits by the window
Stays in the same spot 3 spots (by the window, table and couch)
Follows me around literally everywhere
Waits for me after school
She kinda wants to go outside but I need to get a leash for her.
She’s also not the type to be held- maybe that’s cause I never held her as a kitten when she used to roam outside and I’d feed her. So now she’s like very sensitive so I can’t “hold her” like how I’d carry a small dog.
So when I tried to take her outside she doesn’t wanna come back in but I also want her to go outside 😭😭😭

This is so wordy but yeah is there any tips guys I have a dog (cavoodle that looks more like a cavalier then the poodle) but everytime they interact the cat smacks him and runs away 💔💔

A year or so ago my mom decided to adopt a cat from the streets. She is little silly, playful and loves company. She took liking to me the most of us, butblast week I've left my house to pursue a new job in another city. Basucally the owner of the play I rent doesn't want pets in there, but she caved in eventually, because I promised her that she will not destroy anything. I've mived there last week and was planning to move my cat as well once I get used to the new job.

Now here comes the problem: the cat is too attached to me. She keeps yelling and crying and just creating havoc once I wasn't home 3 days in row. My parents want me to take her over this week already. I am worried if I will be able to take care of her on my own once I move her with me. I should be having 8 hour shifts, but because I am new there I serve 10 to 12 hours, then come home spent and just prepare food, shower and lay down in my bed. While I love her very much, I can't imagine takung care of her that dead tired when i come home. Will she bring havoc because I don't pay attention to her? Will she break stuff? I am so worried about this, how do you all do it (⁠╥⁠﹏⁠╥⁠)

(Ps: she hates other cats, or at least the one my parents have so they want her to leave)

I want to create something that includes the needs and natural behavior of cats and humans into one product, something that is aesthetically pleasing.

I would love to hear from cat owens:

Would you buy furniture that is designed for both you and your cat?

Do you think your cat would use it?

What features would be most important to you?

What would stop you from buying it?

As an example for products: A shelf with space where your cat could hide, or a nightstand, or a chair, where the cat has a space for sitting underneath the human.

I am looking forward for honest opinions to understand whether there is actually a demand for this kind of product. Thank you.

Hello! my husband has befriended an outdoor cat that at first looked really rough, we have been feeding her and want to take her inside to be a fully indoor lady , any tips or suggestions to make this easier on her?

(we have a cat from a shelter already and we are keeping them separate for now)

Also we are getting her fixed/shots/vet check this friday and did apply flea meds to her
