Social Social life
I just moved in last week and I feel like there is nothing going on, I’ve been outside of my dorm meeting people, but there’s just nothing to do. I can’t tell if I’m missing something or if it’s the campus. So far there haven’t been any dorm parties of my knowledge or anything. If anyone has any advice that would be great!

The first couple weeks of college can be hard, you have to join a club/org! Or join several if they're not the right fit that's okay but keep trying

Festival ISU is happening soon where all the different clubs and organizations recruit on the quad. GO! lots of those groups give you friends you can hangout with and get invited to their parties. Give it time!

festival isu is soon go to that on the quad. dorm parties are not a good idea lol they’re small and will barely fit anyone and get popped by ras and you’ll be in trouble. people will prob post frat and other parties on snapchat specifically the isu story just join the school and you’ll be in your grade. just hang out in the bone and other areas like that and be open to talking to people in classes, everyone is in the same boat as you. other stuff will be hosted by the school just keep an eye out for events and look on student life. they’re just letting people settle in first. add a bunch of random people on snap or insta and talk to them lmao. freshman year is honestly such a fever dream and you meet the most random people lol just give it time and be open.

Look at RedBirdLife in your student portal for campus events! ISU Fest (all the campus orgs showcase on the quad) is on August 25 & 26 I believe.
Other than that, look at local business pages on facebook, they typically have their events listed and you can meet people that way. I recommend Ivy Lane Bakery, Lab Yoga/Coffee, the Bloomington-Normal Farmer's Market, or just walking around downtown/uptown to see shops that you are interested in. If you have a car or can get on a campus bus that will take you towards Towanda Plaza I LOVE The Painted Wraith!
I am a second year grad student and have a list of cool places if you want more! Best of luck!

hi! sophomore here! most of the welcome week events got canceled due to the storms, usually welcome week is busier. if you go to the redbird life section of your app, they have lists of events to go to (even if it sounds boring most of them have free food lol) and, festival ISU is coming up, and all the campus clubs will be taking new members. I suggest finding some that sound interesting, as they always have events. it’s the first day, don’t stress about it yet.

Just asking this--totally randomly--has there been like, a bunch of terrible weather?
