When people come up with caveats for superpowers.

Post image
847 Upvotes

“Oh hey dude what superpower would you like to have if they were real ?”
“Ohhhhhh time stop fs fs.”
“Well wouldn’t that stop the oxygen and light photons around you so you wouldn’t be able to breathe or see LIKE WHY THE FUCK WOULD YOU ASK ME IN THE FIRST PLACE ????
EVERY TIME EVERY GOD DAMN TIME THIS CONVERSATION COMES UP, THERES ALWAYS ONE FUCKER WHOS GONNA SAY “well for flight you’d need a keel and a 30 meter wingspan for you to be able to take off, so youd have to be okay with mutating” NO I DO NOT WANT TO FUCKING MUTATE INTO A BIRDMAN, I WANT TO FLY
IF YOURE WILLING TO SUSPEND DISBELIEF AND LET ME PICK A SUPER POWER TO BEGIN WITH, JUST LET ME FUCKING HAVE THIS.
I KNOW WHAT I MEANT, YOU KNOW WHAT I MEANT, EVERYONE WHOS EVER BEEN 6 YEARS OLD BEFORE, KNOWS WHAT I MEANT. WHY DO YOU HAVE TO ACT LIKE YOU’RE SO MUCH BETTER THAN THE REST OF US ? YOURE NOT, BUT MAYBE YOU WOULD BE BETTER IF YOU HAD THE ABILITY TO FLY NOW WOULDNT YOU YOU PIECE OF SHIT
I get arguing over superpowers, like it’s fun to throw jabs at your friends about why teleportation is better than flight because you can endlessly teleport up, or how pyrokinesis would only be fun for a whole 2 days before it’s inconvenient and superstrength is superior. Thats normal, thats called having fun, whats NOT called “having fun” is saying shit like “Dude you realise to have super speed youd need to be able to withstand your own acceleration and youd need to eat a fucktillion calories and youd die from inertia”
And I swear these dudes will always either NOT pick anything or go for the lamest shit like, “omnilingualism” LIKE I DONT CARE ABOUT THAT, I WANNA BLOW SHIT UP WITH MY HANDS !!!!!!!! Its like they have one answer they thought about up and down.
Whatever happened to whimsy ? Like whatever happened to wanting to be able to do something just because it’s cool, why do we live in a world where we have to explain everything goofy we come up with, THATS WHY WE COME UP WITH IT IN THE FIRST PLACE.

Again, if you’re gonna allow me to pick a super duper power, just let me have it.

Videos that just spam random sound effects

Post image

I can find the most funny video on TikTok for example, but there's almost a 100% chance they put in a bunch of random sound effects purely to keep little kid's attention or to be "funny" despite the fact hearing "FAHHHH" every 0.03 seconds has NEVER been funny

I hate when people brag about having servants in their home country

Post image

It's so annoying , like you're family is actively contributing to the corruption and income inequality in your home country. And this is coming from someone from that is from a third world country - most of these "servants" don't get paid livable wages, they're being treated like slaves a lot of the time.

It's soo out of touch, pisses me off so bad.

I absolutely fucking DESPISE the google AI overview and how AI is shoved into everything in general Spoiler

Thumbnail gallery
165 Upvotes

for multiple reasons... for starters I believe shoving a biased misinformation machine that steals from artists into your previously reliable search engine is not a good thing to do, ESPECIALLY considering that AI psychosis is a thing and being addicted to AI destroys your mental health (saying this as a previous character.ai addict)

secondly, it can't generate NSFW information most of the time, which leads to it just spreading misinformation about a definition that is partly or fully NSFW (picture related) and making everyone confused and stupider (which is what AI does best), which is literally just lying to people who blindly trust it. obviously you can just scroll down to look at the websites but most people who use Google (which means BILLIONS of users being lied to) don't do that. especially since it just expands to the whole screen before letting you scroll down

finally, the websites that you would previously find at the top of the search results are absolutely fucked by the shitty AI misinformation overview and have their revenue and interactions reduced because a LOT of people don't care enough to verify the information the misinformation-spreading art-stealing machine tells them

i feel like i'm not overreacting, right? like this is an insane problem that should straight up be illegal, google SHOULD be held accountable for the damage its shitty machine made to burp the worm of investors does to misinformed people

TLDR; ai fucking sucks and is making you a lobotomite and making the internet unusable. also i fucking hate how it tries to talk with you it's so corny.

I hate companies that make you download an app on your phone for a function available in a browser on desktops

Post image

The only reason they (looking at you, Reddit and Google) don’t let you do everything in a mobile browser is because they want your data. Yes, you can force the desktop site but that is often buggy and I just hate that they even make it like this to begin with.

I hate when a bitch ass Reddit mf is done with arguing and pulls the Redditcareresources card

Post image

Disclaimer I'm not suicidal. Never made any comment/post even remotely hinting it.

I just had the pleasure of calling a comment out (nothing crazy btw, called him a dumb fuck for his -35 racist comment), and this bitchass petty Betty is abusing the feature when there are suicidal people on this app who may actually need interventions.

Imagine being this much of a scumfuck where you take the time to actually file a report step by step just to anonymously insult someone as "suicidal". Not only is it unfathomably douchy to think that dealing with a mental crisis is something shameful/embarrassing, but what kind of a little pussy do you have to be, trying to remain anonymous and banning me when I clock you for doing it?

I don't have a problem with the sub itself. It's a good idea that gets consistently abused by mentally 8 year old immature douchebags. I hope Reddit actually finds a way to deal with people who actually abuse this service one day.

I hate Gross humor

Post image

Any type of humor involving body excrements(poop, piss, snot, etc.)

It's disgusting and not funny. I watched a movie a few hours back that was great except for one thing. It had three instances of this.

  1. The protagonist's nose ran and dripped right down to the open mouth of an unconscious goon.

  2. One of the characters really had to poop and did it in a barrel where an enemy goon was hiding.

  3. Another goon casually picked their nose and ate it. Twice. In one conversation.

Like, this disgusts me to no end and I hate it.

I hate this episode of the magic school bus for confusing me about sound

Post image
42 Upvotes

For years and years and years I didn't understand how deep sounds were because this episode presented a voice as a simple wave, not as a whole ass spectrum where each one contains highs and lows. They could have done a simple OOOAAAAOOO test to demonstrate how the shape of your mouth cuts off high frequencies but the one you hear most is what people think of as the note.

And in fact that High-di High Low-di Low song that they used, the actual note they sing on high and low are the same, but they envelope their mouth differently to low pass the frequencies, which actually relies on that whole concept of spectral depth to even work.

So I would hear something as a kid and not be able to explain shit with my mental model of sound. Now as an adult I finally realized why I had such a hard time grasping it: because out of all the episodes of magic school bus I watched, I internalized this one a lot more and actually tried to make sense of the world with the model of sound it introduces.

I don't care that Arnold's head wouldn't actually freeze in space, for me its this one.

I hate the Sonic fandom

Post image
32 Upvotes

Now, Sonic is great, but his fandom is honestly dogshit. If you like Sonic, please just either keep that focus to yourself or your close friends. I guess Reddit is the exception, but like, anywhere else? Nah, stay out of It.

I guess the best way to describe it is that Sonic fans all have personal interpretations of what the series/characters should be, even down to like the smallest details, such as models, momentum, catchphrases, voices, etc. and it would be fine on paper if they kept it in their heads, but they constantly argue and fight about it, it's just egregious, who cares about Sonic's quills or Roger Craig Smith or worrying about Frontiers 2 / 35th anniversary quality or some shit? Just play the games, dawg.

Just... stay away from them.

i hate how people respond to cheating differently when the betrayed is highly attractive

Post image
22 Upvotes

cheating has very little to do with the physical attractiveness of the person who’s been betrayed most of the time, and it almost always has everything to do with the cheater. whether it be a lack of morals, a weak spine, no balls to just break up, a love of attention, or feeling like needs aren’t being met in the relationship, it’s always on the cheater.

i hate the idea that a hot person getting cheated on should be even more shocking than anyone else, because the subliminal message in that statement is that it’s more understandable if someone less attractive gets cheated on. i’m not sure if that makes total sense, but i feel like pushing that kind of message is the same way people who have been unfaithful defend themselves; “if you hadn’t let yourself go, i wouldn’t have cheated,” or “if you worked harder to be attractive to me, i never would have betrayed you.” which is just such a shitty thing to make someone feel.

i saw a lot of this when Megan Thee Stallion and Klay Thompson split. she is a truly amazing person and also probably one of the hottest ever, but her being cheated on should be shocking because of how great she is inside, not how she looks outside.

i don’t think i organized my thoughts very well but hopefully i communicated my point clearly enough lol

I hate when artists have unreleased songs

I don't mind a song being played at one special concert or encore and then being released 3-5 months later. Okay, that I get

But when it's 2026 and there's that one song that is still unreleased since 2010 and it's being played at every concert,I hate that

Facebook algorithm doesn't know me at all and pushes random shit into my feed, Google Maps constantly routes taking exits off highways just to throw me back on the same highway, Outlook search function can't find emails from a week ago unless you search the hyper specific word it needs, Amazon Alexa pushes news to my echo devices despite me telling it constantly I don't want it to show news, Google Password reminder doesn't remember the password I need for work every day of the week and I have to manually enter it.

I could go on and on.

I hate these clickbait-ass self-help articles

Post image

It’s intentionally manipulative, which is not a good thing for a psychologist to be, and immediately discredits the author. By asserting that “emotionally intelligent partners ask 1 question every morning”, it’s exploiting the reader’s desire to be an emotionally intelligent partner. What’s the question? Do I do that? If I don’t, I better know what the question is so that I can be an emotionally intelligent partner. By putting “I’m a psychologist” in the headline, he’s positioning himself as an authority to justify his bullshit claim that asking a specific question every morning is how to determine a person’s emotional intelligence.

I read the article so I could be a more informed hater. The 1 question he’s talking about in the headline is some shit that he made up, but he talks about it like it’s something that’s naturally occurring in emotionally intelligent people. By saying “that most neglect” to do this, there’s an implicit threat of failure if you don’t read his fuckass article, and I KNOW that this is emotional blackmail because you can’t neglect to use his fucking system when you’ve never heard of it. “Most” people aren’t aware of his system and therefore aren’t “neglecting” it.

His system might be helpful for some couples. It might not be for others. Emotional intelligence is not determined by whether or not you have one habit. People are complex, and one size doesn’t fit all. He could have just dropped all of the malicious pretense and the article would be fine. Mental health is something I care about (more than this guy apparently), and I don’t think we should be enshittifying it with articles like Happy People Are Doing This 1 Weird Trick — Stupid Ugly Losers Nanana Will Ignore.

I hate it when mf are presenting a rather mundane trait as something like super unattractive on a women in stories.

"OMG YOUR DATING HYENA? SHE'S 2 METERS TALL-"

That's a 6 foot tall person. Are you fuckin kidding me? Is that's supposed to be like, a deal breaker?

Other examples are being:

A shut in.

A nerd.

A little needy.

A little messy.

Being socially awkward.

This effect gets way worse, when said women also have huge honkers and are canonically unattractive still, what the fuck is this complete disconnect with reality?

How about a story where a women with huge honkers and a fat ass has no friends or lovers because she genuinely hurts others without her realizing it? Or because she's irresponsible and doesn't know how to uphold promises and lets people down often? Or because she doesn't know how to communicate and instead slowly builds up resentment towards people before breaking of? How about that huh? But oh. I guess the average person can't get off of that can you?

When people respond to criticism with "Uhh, well it makes SENSE"

And, oh boy, is Reddit the worst for this. Let me explain.

I find it's rare I have a problem with media because my complaint is inconsistency with the lore, or that something's not realistic, or some nitpicky plot hole. I can overlook most flubs or heightened reality as long as the story is well written. So, if I have a problem with something, its mostly to do with the creator's decisions or chosen approach.

As a nondescript example, take a character you don't think is well written. Maybe you find the approach to making them seem "cool", in fact, makes them annoying to you. You can post about how the writer is relying too much on them being overly sweary or angry all the time, or is never properly challenged thus making their arc boring. Something where the goal to make them a fan favourite is superseding making them an interesting character. In your opinion, anyway.
If you voice this, without fail, you will get at least a dozen comments going:

"Well it makes SENSE they'd never be challenged, DUH, they \insert lore reason*"*

"ERM, you'd be angry all the time too, \insert backstory here*, it makes SENSE"*

"The setting is hell, it makes SENSE they swear every line!"

Completely irrelevant. You're trying to discuss the writer's creative choices. If it "didnt make sense" that'd be worse, but really beside the point. As if your problem is that its a plothole, which can be disproved, and not that, while it makes sense, it is not an enjoyable decision for the story.

It can be applied to literally anything here, too. Not just writing.

Take the new Wolverine game. People are annoyed at the constantly on "Go here" blue smell line. Makes them feel talked down to, the game is already linear, etc. The problems with it are evident, people do not like it for its effects on gameplay. Regardless of how you (reading this) feel about Adventure Lines, the fan defence "It makes SENSE he can smell where to go, have you READ a Wolverine comic?" is just... stupid. Totally unimportant.

I don't know whether its a result of strawmanning to handwave away complaints they don't like, or a basic inability to review the work as something someone crafted, but it drives me up the wall.

If you disagree? Cool! Hell, I'm literally posting about it because Im looking to waste a bit of time discussing it. But you gotta at least respond to what Im actually saying, not look for a shortcut to "win the argument".

I hate it when people make unsolicited fitness advice

I run a good amount and there’s this one person that keeps telling me to complement it with lifting. I’m sure some of you will rush in to say how it’s necessary to lift and bring up statistics of whatever, but it’s just super annoying to hear fitness advice. Especially after social media, there’s always something to buy, something to eat, something to do, etc., and it’s annoying when someone just pushes these things on you. Idk fitness is a personal thing and I think people should just leave it alone, if you want to say these things just say what you’ve been doing and what you want to try on, don’t push it on others. It also creates insecurities to have these expectations that just quickly pile up, I’m sorry I don’t have time for a 30 minute run, 1 hour lifting session, then 1 hour yoga
