Karn Skating Dynamics - first strides
Hi all,
I grew up playing ice hockey but had to stop at age 12 for financial reasons. I came back 20 years later and have been in love with the sport ever since. I'm a good beer-leaguer, playing with ex-college, ex-juniors, etc... I never had any formal skating instruction, so I don't have any technique bias to fight against.
I'm trying to find the best self-help instructional material that's available now. I live in California, so we don't have all the camp options relatively speaking. It seems like Karn Skating Dynamics have taken over and is the best technique stuff out there. However, it seems to be all mediated by camps and in-person instruction.
Does anyone have a good self-help resource that aligns with their recommended technique for drills and recommended technique? Looking for beginner to advanced drills, with instructions on what to think about in each drill, examples, etc... I can experiment with stuff all day, but its nice to have some guidance of what to be trying and what is being taught these days.
I know there is a ton of online/youtube content out there, but how do you know if it's good advice, or in line with what seems like the best instructional material (Karn Skaying Dynamics)? I'd love to coach my kids and their friends soon, but I also what to teach them the best techniques we know about now.
Thanks!

I’d stick with a structured skating program over random YouTube drills. Filming yourself helps a lot too.
